qcp files to mp3's?

so, i read how to record phone calls and voice mail to the VX7000, great. they are saved. next problem. I transfer them to the computer. they are in .qcp format, which is for quicktime i believe.... anyway, i open them in quicktime, and it says that it doesn't support or recognize the file format. so my question is, how do you guys convert it from .qcp to .mp3? i've already tried changing the extension, but that doesn't work.

ftp://ftp.eudora.com/eudora/purevoi.../PureWin132.exe

^ Use that program to open them, then I think you can save it to a .wav file.

ftp://ftp.eudora.com/eudora/purevoi...onverter3_0.zip

^ an even better program. converts .qcp to .wav, AND .wav to .qcp. simple DOS program, took me a bit to figure out how to use it, just right click the qcp you want to turn to a wav file (or other way around) do "open with" and then select the program. DOS window pops up, converts, closes, and then the new file has the same filename, different suffix, in the same directory as the original file.

so, after playing more, i figured out that it will only convert the files that you record. ie. get tunes>record new.
when i try to convert a call that i have recorded, it doesn't work. it converts the file, but the wav file is 0kb. the qcp file it starts with has a size thought..... any ideas?

Open your file with purevoice then press the Alt+Shift+C keys in PureVoice to convert the qcp to a wav.

its not working for me, i get an error saying

"codec 'TIA IS-127 Enhanced Variable Rate Codec, Speech Service Option 3 V1' could not be found"

and then it does nothing.....

its a 132KB qcp file. when i use the other program, it spits out a wav file, but it's size is 0KB....

any ideas?

I have been working hard on trying to figure this out....

How to get a call recording file from your cell phone (in my case the vx9900) to a wav file or MP3......

the solution in the past has been to download purevoice and play the files there... however the purevoice program cannot read the EVRC codec that the vx9900 (as well as other phones I presume) encode......

Here is the error when you try to play the file.....
"Error: could not open file--it is either corrupt, uses an unsupported format, or is not a multimedia file at all (could not render file using DirectShow)."

Here is the solution..... email the file to yourself..... FROM THE PHONE

Verizon automatically converts the file to WAV for you! A WAV file is attached to the email!

obviously it costs 25 cents... but it works!

from there you can convert to wav....

It seems to me that you could easily go into iTunes>Edit>Preferences>Advanced and check the box for which format you want. Then right click on the file you want after you import it into iTunes and there will be an option to convert it.

Well ... what I did ,not that you have to, is that I recorded the audio file on my phone straight to the pc , analog , yes , very old fashion , but it works I used the ear piece and from the earphones I connected a plug to the pc ,and voila ... I know , everyone is gonna yield at me, but hey ... IT WORKED !!!
