8910 - I have issues...

Hello,

I am not sure exactly what is happening with my phone. Bell is my provider.

I purchased the phone.
I purchased a USB Cable from e-bay.

I did the following:
Uploaded a custom mp3

Then my phone went in to a "restoring user data" and the phone kept rebooting. Off to Audiovox as I could not find a solution and could not keep it power on long enough to do anything with BitPim

Got the phone back, was scared as heck to do anything. BUT all I wanted really was to upload my contacts and download my pics (screw the ring tones!)

So after a lot of work I managed to get PC-TX115 to upload all my contacts to the phone - phone worked GREAT. No complaints.

Then over last weekend I took a bunch of pics, figured I would download the .jpg files and save them (I DID NOT DELETE ANY FILES FROM THE PHONE - not brave enought )

Anyways, after that, same thing - "User Data Being Restore... [7]" message.

Off to Audiovox it goes again, I am waiting for it to come back.

What am I doing incorrect?

I following exact directions I read on the sites provided via the fourm. But still my phone decides to go bye bye.

I have asked Vox to reload the entire phone OS and start FRESH.

Is it possible my USB cable is bad? How can I tell?

Anyone else ever had these kinds of trials and tribulations?

How can I BACK UP THE PHONE 300% so I can reload the OS if indeed it goes byebye again?

Souds like it's probably a driver problem, but I'm no expert.

Just to add to the case.

1st time I used my laptop to do my works (ringtone thing)

2nd time I used my desktop (contacts/grab pics from phone)

Maybe my laptop driver was screwed, but I doubt the desktop one was as well.

But as you, I'm no expert either

lol man, i've been getting the same message and i havent uploaded jack to my phone, nor do i have a data cable, in fact, my 8910 did something and deleted all my contacts,pictures,wallpapers,ringtones,and games

Wow. I guess my issue was bad software!

I just picked the phone up from Audiovox yesterday. I asked them what they did. This time they did a full erase (which they did not do last time) and loaded the LATEST SW on the phone. A couple menu items seem to have been changed/renamed/moved and stuff - but more or less the same...

By the grace of God I will beable to upload my contacts using PC-TX115

Wow, that's great! I'm thinking about just getting my mom to return it to best buy and get me a new phone by a different brand if she can.

I had probs with the phone also, for some reason most of the time it never showed anything on the screen so I sent it back and they gave me a new one, the menu looked a bit different and it actually worked.

ok, my mom called bestbuy, we're getting a refund, but i dont know what i'm gonna do now, i'm not sure if she'll add me to her verizon plan...i hope she does
