A few things i gotta know. I just got the cable today...best thing I ever got. I'm using BitPim 7.29 to transfer clips of mp3 files to use as ringers. Now when I go to Get It Now->right softkey (Info)->Contents Memory, it's saying that it doesnt have any tunes loaded (0/100) and the memory is 2% full at 1.16MB. Now when i check the Application Memory its alot fuller than it was before i put on the mp3's. So my questions are, why arent the mp3's showing up as tunes and why is my Application Memory filling up instead of my Contents Memory? Also, how much memory does the VX8000 actually have? I read somewhere that it was 100MB, but my phone only says 46MB. Anyone please help. thanks!

Did you read the VX8000 FAQ in the LG forum? You have to rename your ringtones from .mp3 to .mid (just rename, do not convert). Follow brandondork's instructions in that thread.

I believe the phone comes w/ a total of 128 MB of memory, but only ~46 MB of it is allocated for the user's custom multimedia files.

It's not necessary to rename them to mid files and actually if you did they would not even show up in your tunes section even if Bitpim shows they are loaded on the phone.

As far as I know the only files that work in the tunes section are mp3 files I have yet to try wav files so I can not rule them out. But as he said follow the instructions on were to go and what to do in Brandons vx8000 faq post.

I don't know if my information is correct, but I have read that you can't use mp3's as ringtones with the vx8000.

As I'm reading here though . . . it seems that that is exactly what you're doing. Is there some trick to being able to use mp3s as ringtones for the vx8000 or is my information just incorrect?

You can indeed use mp3's as ringtones I have at least 20 on my 8000 right now. Look around in this forum on how to do so with a data cable. if not just email your phone some from your computer.

A couple tips I could give you on doing so is, use 64bit MP3's to maximize the quality but at the same time keeping the file size down to a respectable level. The reason for using only as high as 64bit files is your phone can not produce any sounds higher so you would just be wasting valuable space if you did. Also edit them down to about 25 seconds or so then email them to yourcellnumber@vzwpix.com.
(this will cost you 25 cents if you do not have a pix messaging plan). Then save the sound once loaded to your phone and you are all set.

Have fun
