Just wondering if anybody knew how to put change or add new sound effects to your slider for when you open and close it. I found the dir with BitPim, but I get an error when I try to add something into the folder. Any ideas?

as far as I know, those files are locked so you can't alter them without cracking BREW. and the slider doesn't allow you to assign new tones for certain things except maybe slide open, slide closed, and ringtones. everything else is pretty much locked.

That's pretty much what I was shooting for, maybe just adding a midi file to use as a slide open/close sound fx

well you could try dropping it into the corrosponding sound folder and testing it out. good luck =D

I've tried that, it doesn't work. The new file wont show up under the Slide open/close options

then i don't know what to tell you. umm...you could try naming it the same as an exsisting file and try overwriting it. other than that, there isn't much else you can try.

I tried replacing the .mid files in the sliding sound directory and it wouldn't let me. I have a feeling these files are write protected. The sucky part is the sliding sound seems to have to be a .midi file. If you save the sliding sound effects off the phone and play them in WMP, they sound somewhat similar to the way it does on the phone.
Theres got to be a way to add them in.. dont give up people heh. Theres probably some other file on the phone that just needs to be changed so it will recognize the new slider sound.

I've tried overwriting them as well, you get the same protection error

become an electrical engineer and learn to program and code and then break into the software on the phone and change it. then you can send the saved software changes to everyone.

okay.. i'll get right on it
