Locked VS Unlocked

I know the advantages to having an unlocked phone, are there any disadvantages to unlocking a locked phone?

If you get it unlocked via entering the carrier code, then no. The only problem is the phone is still branded which isn't really an issue. If someone tries to hack into the phone and unlock it without the subsidy code, there could be negative side effects with the firmware.
