I love the animated screensavers that come with the d500 but can anyone tell me where i can get more of the same quality. all i seem to find are cartoons but the default wallpapers are really good quality.

Hi all,

I've attempted to use gifs on the phone but I always get the same error message "Not Supported Content". I also tried adding a gif that I got in this same thread (planet destruction) and I received the same response. Could somebody walk me through the steps? Is the O/S or firmware on my phone not allowing for the gifs to be used as wallpapers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think some newer firmwares support gifs smaller than 300kb give this one a try

if this one works you 'll know.....

The riddick gif works! So then I guess anything over 300k is no good then. Is the only recourse an upgrade on firmware?

Unfortunately i have an older version and you have a newer......
the 300kb (problem) is found in newer versions...

And about the battery life, there is no diff cause after playin once or twice the phone goes to screensaver mode.....

hey sakis007, how do you make animated gifs out of video files? I'd like to give this a shot. I havent seen anyone post something for that spiral galaxy request I made. I'm an astronomy geek and would like to make a few of my own, along with nice black hole, exploding stars, etc...

Order a bluetooth dongle and you can upload them to your phone that way too. I'm at a bookstore with wireless right now and beaming them to my phone instead of dealing w the cable.

How about some car ones? Like 2 fast 2 furious, or even some drumming ones or music like the chilis or like 50 cent? gunit stuff...like the spinning chain.

Just curious could i get a program to resize gif's without changing the frames, and like something that can change the frame rate, so i could make my own.

I have that on my A620/680 but the NG logo is in the top left. Those animated gifs will not work on CDMA Samsung's will Qualcomm chipsets. They support X-PMD only...

No not really as the wallpaper isnt on all the time if your not using your handset the wallpaper turns of and goes to the clock

that is incorrect, animated wallpapers DO eat battery power several times more than standard still ones. But the battery life on a D500 is poor anyways so it doesnt harm to eat MORE power

i use animated wallpapers on my d500 all the time and i dont have to charge for 3 to 4 days i suppose its if you make many calls then its not the wallpapers using the power its the calls

the other day i was out and i had low batt i turn the screen brightness down to 1 saver off and on slient it lasted 6 more hours so i tested it with the same amout of useage on full screen brightness + defult screen and it died in 1:30 hours/mins

made a couple of liverpool Fc wallpapers in GIF format basically taking squad profiles etc from the official website and re-sizing and converting them - looks pretty cool when its on !!

got a squad one which pretty much scrolls through the squad starting with rafa and then ending in a couple of pictures of the juventus game and then 2 of shankly

then got one thats got the days that shook the kop that they had on the website a while ago - basically a 10 defining moments in liverpools history !!

also got an ARSENAL one that i done for my mate which is a lot of the games this season and pictures taken from them with the scores up the side !! also taken from the arsenal official website.

Sounds like you have a firewall setting which makes your browser, look at .bmp instead of gifs. Save a animated image from this page, and if it comes up as a .bmp, check your firewall settings.

you can resize pictures in ms paint, paint.net, photoshop etc

converting video into gif is not advised as there are so many frames and you loose compression.

why not try searching for it on the net

You can use any dvd player on your pc that has a screenshot capability.....just pause your video take screenshot.....next frame-screenshot-next frame-screenshot and so on
when you are done (i use Animation Shop 3) insert all the photos to your gif creator.....crop,resize and you have a video-like gif for your d500

you have a newer firmware that supports only under 300kb gifs......
we unlike folks that have older versions can use allmost 2mb gifs.....sorry

when finished uploading
a code for forums will appear
copy it and paste it in a message
a preview of your image will appear here for us to save it

Just wondering about this over 300k thing, why cant newer version use 300k+ gifs as a wallpaper, shudnt it be the other way around? lol Well mine seems to be able to use any gif, The Ring one is over 600k n wrks fantastic on my D500.

true but the same pictures are all over the web so it doesnt really harm anyone. Not sure whos are personal and which are not.

If they are personal ones i can add you to credits but ive seen everyone of them pics atleast 6 times in 10 different places

I'm not condoning my posting in here as "correct", but this thread gets a lot of traffic than the apropriate thread, and most of everyone in this one obviously have a working means of transferring these wallpapers to their phone, thus why I thought some people would be more knowledgeable in know how to set it up.

FF one was good but poorly made as it was over 1MB in size, animated images should be a max of 700KB anything larger and ur just having a joke, your better of saving it as a video rather than animated.

You want to try cut down the number of frames to reduce the size

Yeah your sorta rite, but probelm was each frame was a wallpaper orginaly. And when i turned the quality of each image dow, its just looked too grainy. So I had too keep it as it was. But hey everyone else likes it. :evileye:

Oh a very special thing about viewing photos. I notice that I could zoom in and out by pressing and holding up or down the volume key and u can move the picture up,down,left,right with the bottons around the ok/i. I can't get it to work for the downloaded images though

That only works, with photos that have been taken with the highest setting. Becuase if you notice you cant zoom with this high setting on.

It been mentioned by me and quite of few others about this, so I guess I must repeat it. IF YOU WANT WALLPAPERS FOR PHONES OTHER THAN THE D500, START YOUR OWN FLIPPING THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

P.S if anyone decides to use any of my club wallpapers for any other phone other than D500, plz tell me, because they are original work by me, so you should really get my permission.

Here, I made Futakoi Alternative ones from the opening. I was too lazy to edit out the credits....

It has lots of frame but it runs surprisingly nice on my D500. I could make the Naruto ones but takes me a long *** time taking screenshots. You can just use the Window Media Maker that comes with your PC to get the screenshots then use Animation shop to do it.

Man, this is getting this is getting really irritating. Its been mentioned over and over again. If you have a phone other than D500, then start your own flipping thread. We only get and make wallpapers for the D500!!!!

there's no need to convert to pmd to use these... make sure you have the right phone! these gif wallpapers work on D500.

Well I have a samsung A790 and this phone already has an animated wallpapers built in, so I believe wallpapers here should work on mine .
