KWPST Game activation

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Kealvan

This will only activate the games that are supposed to be standard on the phone from Kyocera.

1. Get KWPST I have version 3.6.65 but i am sure that other version sould work.

2. Run Service Programing

3. Read phone

4. Click on the display tab

5. Under enable KWC Games change it from false to true.

TADA you know have access to the games that are standard on your phone. Some providers set this to false so you have to buy there versions of these games.
I hope this helps

Posted by: Polaris911

Has anyone tried this yet?
If it works, someone please laugh in KoreanGuy's know-it-all face.
haha.. pwned.

ok, well I've installed PST and figured out how to load the phone(**** you com port 3....) and changed the settings. now where should these games show up? I went to my get it now menu and went to options, and move apps to see where they might be, and they're not in any of the 3 folders or in the main menu....wondering where this would show up on a verizon phone.

also as a heads up to people, for some reason, after I installed and used KWPST, and used true for the games, I lost about 200KB of data. might want to watch out for that if you're starting to run low.

btw. **** YOU polaris. I said that experience has taught me that games are not possible to get without buying it. I said if someone can prove me wrong then do it. there's no losers in getting free games, it's just that I have yet to see someone pull it off and show that it works. for what it's worth, kealvan is doing an excellent job of explaning it(well, I could have used a little bit of help configuring the KWPST to read my phone, but hey, that's my problem right?), now if only I could figure out where the games are....

Posted by: Kealvan

Under the fun and games menu its the same place you your my pictures and my sounds is the icon is 2 playing cards.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

sorry kealvan, but the only thing that I see in menu>media gallery is my sounds, my pictures, and doodler. I do not see a fun and games menu.

Posted by: AgeNt B

When I try to set up the KWPST, it gets stuck on 99% and then says "An Internal Error Has Occured"

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

tried that too. even went to settings and made the main menu from graphics to list. any more suggestions?

Posted by: Kealvan

when you hit menu what comes up because it should be
for you get it now recent calls contacts messages settings fun and games tools phone info and possibly web browser if you enabled it. if you could show me an image of your menu that would be sweet. Everyone I know on Verizon has had this work in fact it works in reverse for me.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

in graphic mode it looks like this

Recent calls~Contacts~Messages
Settings~Media Gallery~Tools
Phone info~Mobile Web~Get it Now

in list mode it looks like this

Recent Calls
Contacts
messages
Mobile Web
Settings
Media Gallery
Tools
Phone Info

2 things with pst one you have to have administrative rights to install and two I have found out that on a network computer it will not run. I would try redownloading it and try again.

Posted by: AgeNt B

Oh, great i'm on a network, so i'm screwed.....that must be why it wont install

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

I am not on a network. I loaded the phone and connected including changing some other settings on the phone which showed up as changes in the KWPST. I restarted my slider twice after changing the data(it restarted itself once too when I changed data) and I have full administrative rights on my computer as it's my personal computer and I built it myself. any more suggestions?

Posted by: Kealvan

I have never seen media gallery on every one I have seen it is Called Fun and Games that must be why it isn't working maybe it is a new configuration and you need a newer version of PST. How long have you had this one? Thats why I wait tell I get home to use my PST because there I have digital at work I am on a network.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

well I have v3.6.65

this phone and the other 3 sliders I've owned since august have all had media gallery. it might change to fun and games later when you download something from get bit now(which I haven't...bastards want to charge me for data transfers and the games....well F*** that...) but the same 3 things show up in media gallery. my pictures, my sounds, and doodler. still no change. any more suggestions?

Posted by: Kealvan

When I get home today I will have to mess with PST and see if I can figure it out.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

sounds good. but yeah, not sure but I think this was one of the problems with the slider and games, that you could enable games but your carrier has control over whether it shows up or not. but hopefully there's someway for them to show up.

Posted by: Kealvan

Have you tried doing that *228 or whatever it is to update your phone?

When you get your Verizon bill on the back of the envelope it says dial *whatever to update phone software. I know other people on verizon who have done this with PST.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

tried it, no luck. no games menu, no games showing up in any folder using order/move apps in get it now. no extra buttons in the menu.

btw it is *228

Posted by: AgeNt B

Dude, on all of the Kyocera SE47's on Verizon Wireless Service have Media Gallery and no Fun and Games. On all other providers, they do have the "Fun and Games" optoion. There might be a way to enable "Fun and Games" but I can't run the software on my computer because i'm on a network.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

well until I can unlock these fun and games, no dice(haha? get it? ok...n/m... ) but yeah still no luck. I have class in 3 hours so I should sleep because it's 5:45AM where I am and I haven't slept since 9 AM yesterday. if anyone with a verizon slider knows how to enable this menu then post it or drop me a line via AIM at xthatkoreanguyx.

still hopeing someone proves me wrong.

Posted by: Kealvan

I'll check it out this afternoon and lt you guys know. I know this works. I must be missing something with you Verizon guys.

Posted by: Kealvan

Anyone else been able to make this work if you have the standard fun and games folder on your menu this will work just fine if there is anyone on here who has verizon and got this to work also please let us know how.
We thank you for your support!

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

any luck kealvan?

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

Actually, i have heard of a way to do this. It requires KWPST and a data cable. It's not as simple as Kealven puts it. You also need an editing tool to make it show up on the menu.

Posted by: Kealvan

I am trying to find out how to get the menu changed to show fun and games instead of media guide.

Posted by: Kealvan

Ok anyone know which file is for the menu if you change the name of media guide to fun and games they will sgow up the problem is the kwpst software is activating it in the fun and games menu but you have no fun and games menu on your phone unfortianatly pst doesn't have an option to do this and I am not sure how verizon is getting it done unless they are using a universal pst to edit brew. However!! If anyone can remember the file that has this in it it can be hex edited to change your folder names.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

I'll take a look through all the files on my slider through bitpim and hexdump everything one by one to see if there's anything that has the words "media gallery"

I don't have a hex editor but I'm sure someone can alter the file for me if/when i find it.

Posted by: Kealvan

http://www.winhex.com/winhex.zip
This is a good hex editor I have used it otherwise feel free to let me know when you are ready and I will be happy to take a look at it i am interested in seeing it for myself.

Posted by: multani

I've got a discussion a few posts down from the top with screenshots discussing how to enable games on the KOI. http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=556492
Maybe it'll be of some use to the other kyocera users..

Posted by: Kealvan

Lucky me I have pnemonia so I have been kinda dazing in and out the last 2 days just thought I would pop in and see if anyone has gotten anywhere on the Verizon dilema.

Posted by: Kealvan

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

nada, I can't seem the find the correct file and there are a lot more files than I thought there would be. not sure if it's possible without a few weeks of searching. and even then, I don't know if we can change it.

so once again I reiterate, someone needs to prove me wrong that I can't get games on my phone.

Posted by: tay1ormad3

The KWPST trick worked for me - verizon wireless, KX2. Showed up under "tools and games", I have Tetris and Race 21.

Good stuff!

Posted by: Polaris911

Explain what you did and how please!!
Are you on a verizon SE47 or a virgin mobile?
What program of PST should I open and what
tabs or buttons do I need to hit? Thanks a lot.

Posted by: tay1ormad3

I have a KX2/KOI, and the USB data cable from Kyocera.

There is a different threadhere look for posts by Multani, he gives a great explanation of what to do.

I didn't notice this thread was for Slider only - if so, my apologies for getting people excited.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

nah tay1 this thread was for anyone who had a kyocera and could use the KWPST. polaris just didn't read your post and notice the big kx2 you had in your post. and multani and kealvans thread is basically the same thing, multani just explains how to add your phone into kwpst.

I think if I buy a demo of a game then that should create a fun and games menu tab which should then allow me to play the unlocked games. I think this is the only way that verizon users could set it up without having to search through about 50-60 files. and kealvan, I figure I shouldn't change any menu titles as that might make the phone not work properly. if files are saying "show up in media gallery" and suddenly I change it to fun and games, the programs and settings in there might not respond properly. I think I may just have to buy a demo game to get all the other games.

I hope you feel better soon Kealvan.

Posted by: AgeNt B

Are their any ways to edit what the ^ key says other than what the phone gives you???? I tihnk I have an idea.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

check through kwpst, there's probably an option to change it but I'm not sure if it'll just be the options listed in the hold up menu.

Posted by: Kealvan

The items showing up in your media menu also shows up in fun and games along with the games you are missing. What if instead of renaiming the media folder we just add a fun and games one. Just need to know where to put it.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

yeah, that would help....

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

actually quick question, I got a free text from verizon saying I could get jamdat bowling for free. does anyone know if the downloading kb charge applies? I know it says airtime is free but I'm sure it's a way they figured they could charge people for the data transfer

Posted by: Kealvan

I am guessing but I would think seen as they charge you different for data transfers then regular air time there would be a data charge you are just getting the game for free however if you are already paying for get it now there probably wouldn't be any additional charge.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

nevermind, I found out on the internet that there is similar messages going around verizon users that are just scams. verizon is fighting these people and as far as I've heard, there's no such free game thing going on. so yeah, if anyone else gets stuff like this, call verizon and let them know.

Posted by: Kealvan

Just wondering if anyone else has gotten this to work for them?
I know it works on soome of the other Kyocera phones with Verizon if your games are stored in the tools folder.

Posted by: boyo3221

i can get the kpst program to find my phone it only works on the off line way. the read phone option wont let me click it either any suggestions?

Posted by: Kealvan

Make sure your phones data setup is set to automatic.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

you have to add the com port the phone is on. figure out which com port your phone is on, then use the phone configuration option and add the com port. your phone should then show up on the list of phones. move to the PST configuration and your phone should show up.

hehe, I read the entire help file attached...

Posted by: boyo3221

when i use kwpst , i try to enter my com3 becasue it is not there, but i get a red x saying port is busy? any help?

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

if the port is not there, then what do you want it to say?????

COM4 usually is where the usb is at

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

boyo, make sure no other programs are using that port such as bitpim or gagin. just hook up your phone to the cable and try to configure it. it should work. you usually will get that busy message when another program is accessing your phone's info.

Posted by: boyo3221

hi korean guy, umm when i load up kpwst i see towo com 2 ports being used, but no other port, but when i use bitpim it says com 3 is acttivated, so thats how i know my usb cable is com3, but i cant add a new port such as com3 when i try it wont let me i get a red x error message. i have done it without and with running bitpim, still same result. thanks for the help , much appreciated, any suggestions. the only way i can get kwpst to work is by unwillingly use the offline option, that way i can at least download wallpapers and ringers? i am lost

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

cathyp started a thread asking about kwpst help. I left quick directions on how to connect your phone. if that doesn't work...shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can figure out.

Posted by: sirminder

This may sound dumb, but be sure you install the driver for the USB data cable. Otherwise, your pc will not recognize the usb cable on com3 or com4.... I learned that after 1 day of trying different things and pc's.

Anyhow, back to the subject. How to get these games to show up on the SE47. I was able to change the value to TRUE, but still no where to find the games on the phone.

Also, sometimes I get an error message "Failed to read EFS file(s) from phone" when I try and read from the phone. And only 5 of my contacts show up when my phone has all of them listed there. Any suggestions?

Posted by: Kealvan

Re-read the phone its just one of those clitches that happens some times. I get it every once in a while. What service do you have?

Posted by: boyo3221

ihave tried it several times, i have verizon for service.

Posted by: Kealvan

we haven't figured out how to fix this problem with verizon they edit the main menu so fun and games doesn't show up the games them self are active on your phone you just can't get to the menu to play them

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

that's too bad. was hoping someone could prove me wrong. but I guess I still can't get games on my phone. no worries, PSP and old school gameboy work fine

Posted by: N-Forced

has anyone looked in the get it now folder for the games? it has a folder named fun and games stashed in it, i havent tried it yet mainly due to everytime i try and down load kwpst it quits downloading right in the middle of the download.

Posted by: N-Forced

well, i finally got kwpst installed and checked everywhere for those **** games, and no luck. if they are on there, they're hidden pretty **** well.

Posted by: jammasterKX2

N-Forced
Try, QPST : EFS Explorer
Whoops that's for Brew !
Open KWPST ..."Service Programming"
Click "display Tab"
bottom of screen, READ
look for what you need,
Write Changes
beware of what you alter !
ps. this is described in the top of the thread by Kealvan

Posted by: Kealvan

Read the whole thread.

Posted by: N-Forced

Nah bro, I was just saying that for us with verizon i thought that their was a folder called fun and games, but it's only called fun, my bad, also i didnt read where someone already said they checked everywhere for it. so right now i'm still happy with just the doodler.

Posted by: Freddy Flash

PRI settings maybe?

Posted by: Kealvan

Educate me I am for some reason drawing a blank PRI?

Posted by: Freddy Flash

It's part of the firmware. It lets A manufacturer (Kyocera for example) make the same phone and give it to different copmanies with different features enabled and disabled.

It's why VZW's Slider doesn't have games but USCC's does, and they're the same (close enough) phone

Posted by: Kealvan

Ok now that is what I thought IF you look at the brew folder there are several companies listed in there know what tells the phone whoes setting to use if you hex dump this file there isn't much in there as far as programing goes other than what to call certain things like GIN or Easy Edge that kind of thing from what I have seen.

Posted by: Freddy Flash

The flash does, that's not PRI. KWPST lets you select what carrier the BREW settings will be for. For example, I can (and have, to experiment) take a USCC KX414, reload the software on it and have it labeled for Alltel, VZW, or whoever. It's cool

Posted by: Kealvan

Hey where did my title go?

Posted by: smasho

It works on my Verizon Koi but quite the way you'd think.

Follow Kealvan's directions at the first post. I didn't get a "fun and games" menu, but rather my "tools" menu changed to "tools and games" - no change in icon. Took me a while to realize this, it wasn't the change I expected. Go in to tools and games and there they are, tetris and race21.

Now what I'd like to be able to know how to do. KPST has a tab labled "custom menu". I enabled a couple of items there but it did not seem to make any difference on my phone. Anybody know how to activate or access this custom menu?

Posted by: smasho

DUH

Custom menu --- press nav key up --- Custom menu

Now includes games

note to self, Think before posting!!!
