OK, I got my V400 off of ebay. When I got it it wouldn't ring. I've flexed and flashed it to V600. Still wouldn't ring. So ordereda new ringtone speaker. Still will not ring. It does everything else. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

go to the personalize menu and open ring styles... try to go to details on the 'Loud' setting. If it throws you back to the main menu, rather than showing you the ring details, we know what your problem is.

no it doesn't throw me back it will let me change it. I"ve also noticed that my speaker phone only works one way, people can hear me but I can't hear them. And if you go to multimedia it won't play any sounds either.

sounds to me like you bought a phone with a broken speaker chipset

you deleted a file that was already assigned to something... if you have a back up copy of all your audio files, putem back in the audio/ folder, delete the .db files and powercycle

ok, well i have a back-up off all my audio but they are named different than they were on the phone. can i still fix it?

Posted by: weeezer_20

a backup copy means that you download all the original phone files and store in your Computer... you must have an ORIGINAL backup copy with the ORIGINAL filenames to get it fixed... i don't think that putting those files in back in the phone, but with other names, will help you, but you can try...
1 quiestion: what were u thinkin' when you renamed those files?

if anyone has all the ringtones for the motorola v180 with the original file names i would really apreciate it if you could send them to me.

Posted by: weeezer_20

if you downloaded the files via p2kman into the computer, and you DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING, get those files and upload them back into the phone... then delete the .db files and powercycle. that should work

ok ill try that, 1 question though, whats powercycle?

Posted by: weeezer_20

shut down your phone and then power it up. or, you can use the restart phone button in the p2kmanager

Thanks for jacking my thread...lol anyway what exactly is the speaker chipset and is it replaceable?

Posted by: manalive95

in response to the thread jacking, the files with the strange names from p2kman, upload them to your audio folder where they came from, DON'T CHANGE the filenames. then select all of them and change the ATTRIBUTE to 04. delete the two .db files in /a/mobile/audio/ and reboot the phone.

in response to the chipset, it's not recommended that you try and replace the chips on the board itself. if you can find a way to get a replacement, that will be the way to go. besides, finding and replacing a chip of that type would be cost prohibtive anyway.

potatochip guy, download the attached SEEM files and upload them to your phone, then powercycle. you should then be able to assign ringtones.

if you don't know how to upload seems, check

thank you so much that finally fixed it. if there is anything i can do for you in return like give you a gmail invite just tell me.

Posted by: ytknows

lol, nah, I've got like 50 gmail accounts, and all of them have 50 invites left, so I'm cool.

You can just repay me by helping the next person you see on this board with the same problem. Keep the chain intact.

ok will do

Posted by: manalive95

i must know, how and where did you find that seem and decipher the included information as pertaining to the ring styles problem? please enlighten

Posted by: Candyman

This happened to me once.....what end up happening was that I deleted the gain_table by accident.....the phone wouldn't ring nor could I hear the other person on the other line.

Upload a fresh copy of your gain_table and it will work again.
