If you're a stickler for detail, grab seem 0171_0001 and change the text in there to say "Quad-Band GSM" - this is what displays in the Settings > Phone Status > Other Information > Technology menu. Restart your phone and you'll have 850 MHz support. You will likely not be able to register on any of those towers, though, due to lack of roaming agreements.
