Weird Thing

i have the smt 5600 and love it. my question is this: just recently where the signal strength shows there used to be an antenna, now its switches to a G like im connected to the internet but im not. i turn my phone on and let it sit for about 10-20 mins and then it switches to the G. Anyone know why this would start all of a sudden?
