Do you use your BB as phone too?

Or just for E-mails?

Phone and email, I found it was easier to just consolidate all my devices into one. I haven't looked back!

Voice, email and text messaging! I like having one device, and I grew tired of entering all of my contacts into a new phone. The bluetooth feature is great while driving.

The new 7250 with Bell is great sounding--as compared to the 7280, 7780 and 7290--all of which I have owned.

Of course! Less gadgets to carry, the better!

BINGO~

In my opinion, the Blackberry is the best combined phone/PDA out there.

Some reviews of the Treo 650 have indicated that the phone aspect of the device performs very poorly: low reciever volume, etc.

I am surprised on how good the phone implementation is on the 7100t ... they should advertise their support for the different scheduling system, like groupwise ... in my research last year, this never came out ... reason why opted for the 6315 then ...

I just converted to the7100t from the Ipaq 6315. I have been carrying the 7100t for about a week now, and have no intention of looking back. I use Pocket Day, and love it. The most surprising factor for me was the size. I have now gotten used to the suretype, and I love it. For my needs, this is the ultimate converged device.

I'm using both on 1 device too.

But, IMO 7100g offers only basic phones features.

A smartphone with BB connect will make a more ideal devices, unfortunately BB connect is not available yet (except for the lousy version released by my telco).

Yes, phone connected to a BT headset, emai, sms ...BBB

I can't say enough good things about having one device...so far, my BB 7100t has been awesome on all things. Yesterday I configured it as a modem for my laptop and it worked flawlessly..my t-mobile phone service has been super in my home area and (so far) away from home. I was in Key West last week and had great service-called my Dad and he said I sounded like I was 'next door'...email service has been fine, too...I'd recommend a consolidated device like this to anyone who asked.

Really? We must have different definitions of "basic phone features", then, because I think my recently-acquired 7100g excells as a phone. It's got great RF, a terrfic address book with tons of information, etc. and an excellent speaker phone. Oh, and don't forget BT, without which I will never buy another phone. Sure, it doesn't have some multimedia features like pictures in the address book, mp3 ringtones etc., but those are pretty much useless in an everyday setting (to me anyway; can't have Jay-Z playing from my phone when in a meeting with clients).

Though the 7100 series is a good step, it is missing voice dial, which is an essential feature for use with a Bluetooth or other type of headset.

Also, there doesn't seem to be any quick "shortcut" keys to go straight to email or to one's profiles--have to use the trackwheel.

Lest you think that I'm bashing the 7100, I love it, though it is not perfect. I used to carry a 7290 and V3. I found that combo to be too much on my hip. So now I'm doing a 7100r and V3.

That's a security issue (as RIM tells it), as are the lack of BT data transfer and the lack of removable media.

As for moving around with the scroll wheel, I'm coming from a BB 7280, so it's no great shakes. The convenience of carrying only one device more than makes up for it.

Is it a perfect device? No way, but for the very first time, I have ditched a separate mobile phone. For this phone junkie, that's pretty big.

I don't get it. What's the difference?

Alex_de_Large: fair enough--I remember reading about BT restrictions b/c of security reasons/concerns.

roofus: Do you mean what's the difference between carrying a 7290 and V3 vs 7100r and V3? For me, because I carry both devices on my belt (one on each side), I found that the larger width of the 72xx series meant that the BBerry was always bumping against something, especially if I was sitting down or moving about. (That and the fact that I seem to drop the 7290 a bit ). The 7100r seems more comfortable for me, personally.

Also, because I have smaller hands, I find the 7290 uncomfortable to use with one hand. As I used to use SMS a bit, I'm fine with adapting to SureType, though my thumbs are still much faster on the traditional BBerry qwerty thumboard. I'm just glad that there are now different options (besides upcoming BBerryConnect) for different camps.

To get back on topic, I use my BBerry more for email (for work), though most models function well as phones. I'm thinking maybe it's time to cancel my personal cell plan. I'm starting to be in the same camp as a lot of people--have one device rather than two = better/easier.
