SE47 - Broken microphone?

Verizon took care of my fried slider and gave me a 'new' slider-- when I checked the all calls timer, it says 800 calls and 1000 minutes or something like that- so the circuit board is probably refurbished or something.

But theres a problem with this one; when I make or receive calls, they cant hear what I'm saying! It's as if the microphone doesnt transmit. I know the mic does work though because I am able to make voice memos. But it's not transmitting when I speak! Is this something wrong with the phone, or the provider? What should I do? Thanks

Make sure the mute isn't on check your volume

Actually, I checked it and voice memos dont work.

My phone has started doing this lately. I'll be talking to someone, and in the middle of the conversation, the mic will just stop working. I have found that by shaking the phone, the mic will start to work again.

yeah that didnt work.

im having it switched tomorrow hopefully. even if it did work, i wouldnt want to walk around shaking my phone looking like im jerking it haha. thanks for the tip though.

Heh, I didn't really think of it that way. It was kind of my fault I think. The week it started happening was the same week I used my hip instead of my shoulder when I was shooting a shotgun. My phone slipped down too far, and my phone got the recoil from the shotgun. It still works, it just needs a little shaking sometimes.

Yeah, I'm surprised mine held up when I went snowboarding for my first time because I know I landed on my left side more than once haha. In fact, as I was getting up after one run, I felt my pockets and it wasnt there- it was chillin in the snow like 20 feet up and I was flailing my arms trying to skate myself up on the snowboard to grab it. Works perfectly though- tough mother. Well before I fried it to hell with the data cable. my bad.

In about all Kyocera phone, the component are just dropin coomponents which means they work by making contact with the circuit board. Most of the time it has just slid of the contact (This is were shaking it can possible make it work comes in)

Phantoms, Raves, Energi's are NOTORIOUS for this! ESPCIALLY when you pust those crappy aftermaket housing/faceplates on them.

Me personally no.. but I do have one..

And as I said MOST Kyoceras have just drop in components.

Take apart almost any kyocera especially phantoms, raves, engergi's most of the older models too.

Nor surprise there; I got a broken refurbished one out of the box once when going through Slider mania... I went through so many of those handsets... My suggestion - beg for an LG VX-4500, they might grant your wish.

I would never get a 4500. that phones is sooo dime "a" dozen. I HATE IT! LG's quality isn't that great either.

Just take your slider back and they'll give you an new one.
