Is ConnectedBits Weather working ??
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've just installed it on my cingular branded unlocked mpx220 with Tmobile service, and I get a Error: Server Communication error. Please try again.
This is when I try to update the weather. I'm sure it has something to do with me not being able to send mms also, but I thought my internet connections are right, since I can view html pages with IE. Any ideas??

I updated it on my phone. It has to be your Data Connection settings. Go to the link in my blog and check out the settings I posted. See if they match.

I bookmarked the blog, lots of good info in there. Thanks for putting it together!
I've used tmobiles set up page, and got the connected bits to update, but still can't send mms messages. I can view html pages, access wap.mytmobile.com, everything but send mms.
This is the page I used to set up the mms.

The error is uable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again. I'm pretty sure those settings are correct though since I can get on the internet right?

You need to have your GPRS settings correct first, which you do since you can use IE, secondly you have to set up the MMS settings correctly.
The ones on my blog are for Cingular MMS but you set it up in the same way.
So you verified the MMS settings for T-Mobile?
This is what you need:
Start, MMS Settings:
Connect via: The Internet
Hit menu, MMSC Settings, Menu, Edit
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.050
Port: 9201
This should get MMS working
When you set up the internet what was the Access point you used? Was it wap.voicestream.com? make sure that it is because the internet and MMS connects from this access point...I think.
Just go from here and post if it works or what happends, we can try other things if this does't work.

Hmmm..can't figure it out, but it's still not working, yet Internet works fully.
Is it because these two ports are not the same? I've changed the port on the mms settings to 8080 as well, but it didn't work.
Here are my settings:
GPRS
Connects To: The Internet
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Primary DNS: 216.155.165.50
Proxy
Connects From: The Internet
Connects To: WAP Network
Proxy (name
ort): 216.155.165.50: 8080
IE
unchecked box
Select Network: WAP Network
MMS settings:
Connect Via: MMS Network
MMSC settings:
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201

In MMS settings try changing from
Connects to: MMS Network
to
Connects to: The Internet
if that doesn't work try doing the following:
7. Scroll to Edit Connections and press the Joystick.
8. Scroll to GPRS Connections and press the Joystick.
9. Press Menu.
10. Scroll to Add and press the Joystick.
11. Scroll to Description and enter Picture Messaging.
12. Scroll to Connects to and scroll horizontally to MMS Network.
13. Scroll to Access point and enter wap.voicestream.com.
14. Scroll to User name and enter . Otherwise leave this field blank.
15. Scroll to Password and enter . Otherwise leave this field blank.

OMG, that worked !
The settings above along with changing the MMS settings to Connects to: The Internet will make your mpx220 fully internet, mms, and wap.myvoicestream.com work flawlessly !!
Thanks Omega !! I no way could have gotten it to work without that !!

You are welcome, I thought that would work.

i "seemingly" got mms working on my MPx220 w/ t-mobile service as it doesn't give me any errors when i send or check mms messages. however, i can't receive an mms message on my phone when sent from my phone, so i prob don't have my settings correct or something...ninja, can you clarify exactly what settings you used that worked.
btw, when i check my MMS messages using send/receive option it says "Finished" way too quickly ( < 1sec).
omega...love the blog & thanks for your help supporting the MPx...you got my GMail working & I can't thank you enough :O) !

hey shaft, these are my settings that makes everything work for a cingular branded phone on tmobile's network:
GPRS:
connects to: the internet
access point: wap.voicestream.com
primary dns: 216.155.165.50
Proxy:
connects from: the internet
connects to: WAP Network
Proxy Number: 216.155.165.50:8080
IE settings (IE->Menu->Options->Connections):
no check in the automatically detect network
Select Network: WAP Network
MMS settings
Connect Via: The Internet (in my case, it was MMS Network, which didn't allow me to send MMS)
I sent myself an mms at the beginning of typing this message, but haven't received it yet. Yesterday, to verified that these settings worked, I sent an mms to my co worker across the cube, and she received it within a minute. So i don't know why we can't send one to ourselves. Maybe the all knowing Omega can help

ninja,
did you setup a Picture Messaging connection under GPRS Connections or not?
it is weird that you aren't able to mms yourself but it is working when sending to others. can you send mms to other networks than t-mobile?
Posted by: evilninja
no, i didn't set up a picture messaging connection under the GPRS connection. I've only got one connection I named "tmobile GPRS" under gprs connections. And under Proxy Connections, I only have "tzones gprs" as the only connection. I still haven't received the MMS I sent to myself yet. I've sent another mms to a blackberry user and we'll see if I get a response. I've also sent it to 2 other co workers 1, being tmobile and 1 being sprint. I wonder how long the lag is between send and received on mms messages. With another phone I had, I've had people tell me they sent the mms hours ago, when I just had received it a couple of minutes earlier. My tmobile customer just received her mms. It was about 4 mins from the time I sent it till the time she received it. The sprint customer hasn't yet, and probably won't. I have had mms messages sent to me from a cingular customer, so I know that works.

i'll try these settings out. do you know if i can do wap (outside tzones), mms, & email w/o being billed additionally if i have tzones only or will i be paying out the a$$ to do all this w/o a full data plan? just trying to eliminate any surprises on my first bill :O).
Posted by: evilninja
I have the 2.99 tzones plan. They don't offer this plan anymore but I since this is the first time I will be using wap outside of tzones, I really don't know if they charge. From what I gather from everyone else, they don't charge per usage (megabit) and just the unlimited plans. I think with my 2.99 tzones plan, i only get 25 mms messages a month, and 350 free text messages.
The mms' I've sent to my co-workers are as follows:
Sprint: nothing happened.
Tmobile (with tzones) : mms received within 4 mins
Tmobile (with out tzones using v180) : text message asking them to login to website to view the mms
Blackberry phone: nothing happened
Cingular: I've successfully mms'ed my friend before using my a630
