I've seen this question elsewhere on this site w/o an answer. I have vx4500 i have used QPST to place a mid file in the user/sound/ringer folder on my phone. The file is only 46kb. I cannot see the file on my phone itself. 6-2 shows 'No Ringer File!'. 8-1-1 does not show anything I recognize as my file. Where should it show up?

This is my 1st cellphone so I have a imple question: how do I 'review' the ringer I picked w/o callng the phone?

Nevermind. I was packing it in after posting last message and ringer appeared on the phone. Guess I had to unplug phone and reboot.

And picking ringers in non-manner mode plays them.

Remarkable how smart asking a question can make one.

for the 8000 phone...

I'm using BitPim without any problems, to use QPST, is there a different driver that has to be added?

Posted by: stareboy

No special driver needed for QPST.

well I guess I'll stay in the dark.
Are you able to "see" your phone in it?

I thought I had this down, but no. I have vx4500 i have used QPST to place 2 mid files in the user/sound/ringer folder on my phone. I loaded a file a few days ago but cannot seem to redo. I tried to delete the old file with both QPST and the phone menu. Now the phone only shows the previously added file (which I tried to delete) and QPST shows the 2 new files I tried to add.
Is there some reboot or buffer that has to be cleared on phone? BTW the undeletable Ringer is longer playable.

QPST is a service techs program and does do all the file updating that bitpim will do when adding ringers. When you add a ringer, you will need to delete the
brewRingerIndex.map file in the download/dloadindex directory and the reboot the phone. The phone will rebuild this file with the ringers that are loaded into the ringers folder. The you will see them in the mymedia folder menu 6. If the names and or files are not consistant, then they won't play or can be deleted until they match. I've gone through this before.
