Got my 8910 from Verizon and having problems

Let me first start off by saying that this forum is great, and I picked up a ton of good advice on here. However, none of it has been able to help me. I recently purchased a package on e-bay (like many of you did) for my brand new Audiovox 8910 cell phone, with Verizon Wireless as my provider. The order included a USB cable, a car charger, and a IBA. The USB cable looks identical to the one posted on phonemall.net and other sites. It does not have any voltage chargers or other things on it. It is a straight USB Cable. I have tried to get the USB cable to work, using several drivers (Curitel & Prolific Drivers). I have tried getting it to work by keeping the phone off when I connect it which did not work.
Then I tried the phonemall.net method, and used the curitel driver, and entered ##7678. I set up Bitpim, and I can get as far as viewing the phone files for a short while. However once I try to pull something off the phone, I only have a few seconds before it shuts itself down and I get a USB error message on my machine! I follow the directions at phonemall.net to the letter http://tutorials.thephonemall.net/aud8910pic.htm . The photos are in a folder called Brew, not in the camera folder as the directions indicate. Anyway, I managed to get two photo's off the phone before it shuts itself down and I lose the connection. It is a VERY volitile connection. I tried doing using a program called PC Sync (Hyundai) with the cable and phone, because I have all my contacts in Outlook, and my only goal is to get those contacts into my phone. The program makes the connection, then it shut down the phone and forced my PC to shut down! Their has got to be some other more stable way to do this. Today I tried Brewsky, and as soon as the program connects with the phone, the phone restarts itself, and the whole thing goes to crap.
Is it simply the wrong cable and wrong software, or is it the phone? Verizon Wireless in NY sold me this phone at the end of March. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY ADDRESS BOOK FROM OUTLOOK INTO MY PHONE??? HELP....PLEASE!!

I use the Curitel driver with Bitpim and QPST and it works fine with the FutureDial data cable. The PC Sync program is worthless and I cannot get it to actually load any contacts onto the phone. But Bitpim and QPST work fine for me for browsing the file system on the phone. Right now it doesn't seem there is any software that will allow you to load your Outlook contacts onto the 8910.

Do you think Verizon is programming the new phones to shut down automatically when you try to access your files? In my case that seems to be what is happening.
I was curious if it was my cable, so I just called future dial and they told me they do not sell a cable for the Audiovox 8910. Radio Shack only sells the one for the 8900, and I already bought one off of ebay that was supposed to be for the 8910, fits the 8910, but says 8900 on it. So why buy another one for the 8900 if it might not work either?
Has anyone else bought a CDM 8910 in the last month or so from Verizon Wireless been having these issues?

I bought my cdm 8910 at the end of February and have not had any of those problems at all. I have pulled about 20 pictures from it through a data cable that I bought on ebay, and currently get free WAP. Sounds like you got a bad phone.

Actually, it blows my old Samsung A310 out of the water in terms of reception and battery life. I can e-mail pics out and receive them without a problem. I am thinking that perhaps the programmers at Verizon Wireless did something recently to make the phone shut down when you try to access jpgs or other files. I live in the North East. Maybe this is just a local issue? Maybe I am loosing my mind and the cable I bought just sux. Anyway, I am manually entering about 50 contacts or so now as a result of this issue. This whole thing is just a big buzz kill right now.

My 8910 arrived Monday and as I stated above it works fine. The FutureDial data cable for the 8900 works for the 8910 (that's what I'm using), what FutureDial is likely referring to is that they don't have any software that supports the 8910. The connection to my phone is quite stable.
