So I was about to upload an mp3 onto my Audiovox 8910 and found some old midi and mp3s that I don't use anymore so I deleted them in bitpim and now whenever I want to listen to the mp3s that I DO have, it freezes because the first ringtone in the Media Gallery is one that I deleted. Now what??!!!

I am thinking something along the lines of using bitpim to delete all the downloaded sounds and then erasing the contents of download_snd.txt . But I have an 8900.

Haven't been here in a while so I do not know what programs you can use for 8910. Can you guys use or have something similar to brewsky? if so then use that program. save all your ringtones then remove them all from the phone. restart the phone, then put them all back on.

The problem with the 8900s is you need to properly edit the download_snd.txt file in the db dir or else you can really screw up the phone to a point of having to return for service. I am guessing the 8910 is similar.

Can you delete through the Media Gallery? If so then I would delete everything and try again.

Tried editing the snd file and screwed everything up. It restarts everytime I go into the Media Gallery. Is there a hard reset code or process I can go through? I'm willing to have it reset to factory settings. Soft reset doesn't do it... I can try screwing around in bitpim some more but I don't have the ringtones anymore that I deleted from the phone.

assuming you have a working download.snd or even if you don't you can use someone else's load on the working download.snd and rename your ringers to match the names of the ringers in the working download.snd

One thing you will need to do is make sure that you have a ringer for each name in the .snd and it should work fine.
