How much data does Arena use?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm about to buy the 99$ QD from ebgames on the 16th, and I'm gonna buy a data package with it.. how much data on average does the Arena use per hour? Would 3mb suffice for spotted gaming, maybe 5 minute sessions?

I mainly plan on playing Pocket Kingdom online.. if that helps.

Posted by: angel_wing0

i think u should get the unlimited package..else the data bill will KILL you BADLY

Posted by: k4o

Unlim. package is 25$ a month :| Kinda steep, but I'll see what I can do.

Posted by: angel_wing0

$25 aint too bad compare to what we pay in canada...Rogers: $100 CAD per month Fido: $50 CAD per month =P

good luck...rather u pay the $25 straight than paying the extra data that u use which cost like 10 cents/kb

What about on T-Mo? Do I need the basic or Pro T-Zones? I read about people talking about this, but they usually say that it works some times, but they can't connect.
Also, do ya play on Areana, Angel?

Posted by: angel_wing0

no i dont play on arena

Posted by: zummy

$25/Mo! Wow... $2.99 Unlimited T-Zones is sounding like a great deal now.

I never have any trouble connecting to GPRS on T-Mobile USA - I'm in the Twin Cities (Minnesota), I'm sure it's different elsewhere.

I don't think you need T-Zones Pro, the big thing with that is access to corporate email accounts.

I'll find out next week

Posted by: angel_wing0

do tell us...cuz i have lots of friends wondering the same thing

Posted by: nflsonic

I'm most likely gonna order T-Zones tomorrow. I wanna get this dang Opera broswer working before I go on my trip next week!

good luck man

I checked out T-zone at tmobile.com and it says 4.99. Did you get the 2.99 deal somewhere else?

promotion

Man.. that would be shweeet if I can get that for my family plan.
I'm on the verge of switching from Sprint PCS to Tmobile w/ Ngage QD. Hope they will come out w/ that promo for the family plan.

Posted by: angel_wing0

well thats what i think

your best solution of cuz is to talk to a tmo rep

Posted by: zummy

2.99 T-zones is the old plan from over a year ago. I don't imagine it's going to come back anytime soon. They allow people who have the plan to keep it though.

It was the cheapest data plan around.
Unlimited Wap over GPRS
300 text messages
30 picture messages.

It used to allow unlimited internet access. You could teather your phone to your computer, and surf as much as you want. It was kind of outrageous, which is why they closed off everything but wap and email about 6 months ago.

Posted by: angel_wing0

^ imagine having that in canada

Posted by: gompol

Ok.. is this 4.99 Data sufficient for Ngage Arena?
What about surfing the web?

I'm geting confused because I saw somewhere that you have to get the 19.99 plan because Tmo shut down port 80.
So I'm curious whats the difference between the 4.99 and 19.99 or are they the same?

Posted by: angel_wing0

probably not...better ask in tmo foru,m

According to this thread...

N-Gage T-Zones Thread

...you can use Arena with T-Zones... This post was made almost a year ago though, before they started closing some of the ports.

T-Mobile's site says, " Unlimited t-zones
(includes unlimited Internet e-mail and Mobile Web content)" I'd say the N-Gage arena is Mobile Web Content, but there really is no way of telling until they ship them!

true..guess try your luck~

I called Tmobile Customer Service and they said the Arena is included in the 4.99 plan. But the guy on the line sounded iffy. He was trying to play smart with me then I stumped him, so he says "Let me put you on hold, and I'll ask" then he finally said that Arena was included.

I think the 4.99 only gets you to simple WAP sites, email, Arena. But the 19.99 allows you to surf any websites in addition, and this (19.99) plan was the old 2.99 plan they are talking about here

Posted by: angel_wing0

wow what a HUGE price increase

Posted by: zummy

I have the $2.99 plan, and I definitely cannot access anything through port 80, so no regular web sites for me.

But I'm glad to see Arena is confirmed.

Posted by: angel_wing0

that sucks..but i guess u get what u paid for..$3/month~

Posted by: tdw

Arena works fine on $4.99 t-zones. Now i just need to get some games to use it with...

Posted by: angel_wing0

lol...yeah...wish we have that in canada...i have all the games and no arena "flame:

I'm not complaining, I just wanted clear up that the price didn't go from 2.99 to 19.99. It isn't the same service.

got it!

Check out this link..

Someone said..
Quote:
In October T-Mobile started shutting down port 80 due to some security issues. They claimed that people with the $2.99, $4.99 and $9.99 T-Zones package were not supposed to have access to port 80 which allows for unlimited internet access. So what they did was make the $19.99 T-Mobile VPN add-on for people that wanted unlimited internet access.

Also, I called up Tmobile again to confirm Arena charges. This time I got a different reply. The rep said Arena is part of the talk-time minutes. So then I asked if its free after 9pm and weekends (since I have the family plan), and he said yes. I'm really confused now, dont know who to believe. Tmobile reps need more training.

try the tmo forum..u might get a better reply that way
