Getting a Treo 650 on Saturday, please advise

I'm going in on Saturday because my T-mobile contract ends. Switching back to Cingular and going to get the Treo 650. My place is selling it for $250 + $50 rebate from Cingular with a 1 year contract. Does that sound good?

I also have a few questions:
- Is the in call volume really as soft as people say it is?
- Can I load movies onto my SD card and play it on the Treo?

Thanks guys. Hope to join the Treo family in 2 days.

1) call volume for me is not bad at all ... I've not gotten a chance to test it in the Cobra yet so I don't know there but in a normal non-loud car driving it's fine.

2) yes. no lag, no chop, nada.

but going Cingular? arghles! good luck!

I'm not getting this from a Cingular store but instead a Cingular/Verizon/T-mobile authorized dealer. I'm going back to T-mobile because I have them and also Cingular pre-paid and Cingular reception has really gone up with the ATT merger.

Every shop here has the Treo for $250 + $50 rebate. They also have the P910a for $320 but I think I'm going to stick to the Treo. It looks way better.

Styelz23 - Thanks for the advice. Does the Treo come with a screen protector already? I'm hoping to keep it on until I can order some from eBay. Can you also play full length movies? I'm thinking of loading up some to keep me occupied.

Thanks guys.

yeah it comes with one.. which im using till my boxwave screen protectors come in.. and yeah as long as you have the room u can watch full length movies, i believe they a run about 150-250mb for a two hour movie

Thanks. I looked around and found a program called MMPlayer which plays movies. I don't know if you guys use it or not but it seems like a lot of Treo users use it. Can't wait to get it!

-edit-

I was also wondering, does the headset that comes with the Treo come with 2 earbuds or 1 earbud? Can I use it as normal earphones for playing music?

Woah, where can I get this price? I am actually switching out from Tmobile too but I'm probably considering a Sprint 650

i use kinoma right now to watch music videos that i converted with kinoma producer..

treo comes with the standard 1 earbud headset, you can't use a regular headset because the plug is too big, but there are adapters or "hybrid headsets" a common brand is seidio

The Treo 650 plays movies as is without extra programs. I use a Mac and use Handbrake to convert a full DVD-film to aprox 160 MB Mpeg4 and it plays. However I think the film is a little bit dark and it does not show subtitles

I use my Ericsson P800 stereo earpieces with excellent sound!

Have you guys experienced any static with the earpiece? If I remember correctly, on treocentral they were experiencing buzzing/static on the earpieces.

I was also wondering if you could change the themes of the Treo. Can you change how the icons look to say, OS X?

Posted by: stylez23

yeah u can get zlauncher and get themes to make it look like a mac or windows system.. its kinda neat

That's definitely awesome. I think I'm set to get the phone tomorrow. Hopefully nothing bad happens and I end up with some crap phone.
