crosshairs and a red slash?

I have a cingular branded Treo650 and am on the TMo network ... at the top of the display just offset to the right is a small 'bullseye' or 'crosshairs' with a red / thru it. I looked in the manual but didn't find any mention to this, what it does, or how to turn it off / on / configure.
Any help would be great. I'm an idiot.

Could you take a pic of it and upload it? I will keep searching for info, no luck yet.

It's a lot warmer in Phoenix I see, in the 90s, you guys really get the hot stuff early! lol It's 44 here and raining, snow level is about 300 feet, we're at 1000 here, more tommorrow, typical Spring weather here lol We won't see 90's until at least late June or early July, depending, this spring and summer are supposed to be cool and wet.

By the way, I like your sig, it's so true! Are you a religious guy? I'm Mormon myself, as is just about all of my family (scattered across CA, OR, WA, ID, UT and AZ, in fact, I have a niece and some grand nieces and nephews in the Phoenix area, in El Mirage).

I need to move to Cali myself if this keeps up!

voila! at the top there to the right of the TMo and to the left of the Bluetooth ...

You know what that looks like, the GPS locator thing I've seen on CDMA phones, that icon is shown when you have your phone set to only reveal your location to the network when you are calling 911, an icon like that minus the red crossmark means you have your phone set to show network location at all times. I know the 650's are set up for E911, but that can't be it, that's really weird, lemme see what else I can dig up on the web..brb.

It shows it on PalmOne's web site too for that phone
Posted by: the bishop
yep that's the one ... maybe the 600 had something like that? dunno....

Eureka, I have found it!

It sounds like some of the GSM 650's have that icon, and some don't, but either way the GPS feature it represents is only for CDMA, not GSM, I wonder why it shows on some and not others though?
