Need some help please --

I'm looking at a blackberry tomorrow that's supposedly new and i'm totally unfamiliar with them. I have a few questions:

1. How would I check to make sure it was never activated?
2. Where does it say the model #?
3. What things can I check to see how long it's been used? (Minutes active recorded or anything?)
4. Anyone have any advice of thigns to look for before buying it.

I'm buying it form a person, not a store. Person says it's brand new basically.

Go to the Phone option, click on it, then click again to get into the menu, scroll down to Status, and you should see a listing of minutes used and all that. If there are anything other than zeros there, its been used before. As far as the model and all, scroll to the Options menu, then click on About--it should tell you the model number as well as the software version right there. If its brand spanking new from the factory, it should have software v4. something on it.
