Call waiting, call switching question on 650

How do you end one call waiting call and switch back to the other on the Sprint Treo 650? It seems like the only option is to hang up both calls or just switch back to the other call leaving both connected.
Perhaps it was a fluke but when I was talking on two calls today one of my callers hung up and the call remained connected after I switched back to the other call with no way to end it. If I flipped back to the other call there was just a dial tone. The only way to end the call was to hang up both calls. Please tell me this was only a strange network fluke. I'd hate to think that a $400+ phone can't handle call waiting as well as a $10 phone.
