Blocking a number

I need to know how to block a specific number from caling me.
I would prefer if the call went strait to voicemail all together....anyone know how to do this?
Not sure if this needs to be done through Cingular, I would prefer if I could through my phone, as I refuse to call Cingular for any reason at all
