(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a VX6100. I brought a data cable from cellphoneshop and downloaded a driver from a link shown on tutorial VX6100 thread. The problem I have now is I can’t communicate with my phone. I have which ports with no success. According to the log, I am getting no responds. What do you folks think?

which data cable did you get?
which drivers are you using?
which program are you using to try and connect your phone to your PC? (BITPIM? or QPST?)

supply the actual links to web pages for data cable and drivers then we know more about your problem

thanks for the help. here is the info

1. data cable - http://www.cellphoneshop.net/usbdacaforlg6.html

2. drivers - http://www.futuredial.com/support/d...USB_Drivers.htm

3. BitPim - http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/#download

when you connect the DATA cable to your PC and then connect your phone to the cable....does the PC recognize the phone at all?

like "found new hardware" or anything like that?

if I was to just take a quick guess at your problem, I would say you have a non functioning DATA CABLE...mine does not look like your's...it has a square like box in the mddle of the cable. I got mine from Ebay for less than $10.00 including shipping.

or my other guess would be that you can not use the drivers from futuredial for that DATA Cable and need different ones

did that DATA Cable come with a disc of its own with it's own driver's?

here is the DATA CABLE that I bought for my 2 LG VX7000 phones: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5766819468&rd=1

yes, i did experience "found new hardware". i then install the driver. everythings went well except for the communication between my pc and my phone. the cable do not come with any driver. i guess it's time to get a new one. thanks.

well, I got my cable yesterday and all went well except I couldn't send my calendar to my phone. also, when I clicked Edit/Phone Info
it said "failed to detect" but still the ringtone,wallpaper and phone info worked. today, it does'nt do anything???

similar problem here w/VX6000. i got my cable from everday source. installed drivers, got "found new hardware" and went through all those hoops. my cable looks like the one you mentioned - witha box in the middle of the cable.

bitpim didn't do jack for me. it never recognized COM5 as a source and even when i re-asigned COM1 to COM6 and my phone then to COM1 it stil only showed COM2 and COM6 as active sources.

no luck either with QPST. i have a thread also dedicated to this with different things i have tried, but no solutions have come down....

alien,

The cable you have with the box in the middle... I see when you asked that other user if he got a pop up from Windows when he plugs in the cable to the computer and the phone to the cable.

Does windows recognize the cable as a new device when you plug it in alone or do you need to plug the phone in to have it detect anything?

Does yours show as a Modem or a Com Port in device manager?

Thanks

Have the same damned cable. Same damned problem. Tried drivers from:
1. Prolific
2. From Future Data
3. DNET
4. Audiovox

When you connect the cable you get the sound. The device driver says its a USB - Serial cable.

Bitmin likes the port.

But you try to do anything like say Phone info - you get Phone Info Not Available.

I have complained to CellPhoneShop and will not pay for this cable. Shall dispute with CC. Lets see if they try to fix the problem.

Another thing I noticed, they shipped from Hong Kong and on the customs declaration claimed it was a gift.

Anyone have any luck?

Thanx,

Did cellPhoneShop say that wouldn't do anything? I also bought this cable and have had no luck with it. I was going to call them, but from the sound of things, I might as well start the CC dispute. (I think they will require that I contact them first, however) Has anyone gotten a cable from CellPhoneShop that DID work?????????

yes, i bought the one for the 8100, the box had a link to download the futuredial drivers. i installed the driver fine and rebooted. had some probs detecting my phone, but then found out i needed to power down the phone and then power it up with the cable connected to both the pc and phone. bitpim worked then. hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm just used to windows finding anything when the cable is connected. I never thought to turn the phone off. Hope the others who are having problems see this!

me 2, the thing that is tricky is that it is USB on one end but a serial connection to your phone on the other. USB is plug & play and using that knowledge when connecting I'd thought it would just find my phone. But serial doesn't work that nicely, a reboot was needed. glad i could help. just passing down the info i got from other helpful members of this forum.

I don't know if this is of any help, but I occasionally have the same problem w/my now VX8100 and used to w/my VX6100. Somehow the "PC Connection" would become "closed".

I can't remember exactly where the setting is on the VX6100, but on the VX8100, you go to

-->SETTINGS & TOOLS
--> 9. PC Connection (from the following choices 1., 2., 3., 4., choose: )
----> 2. RS-232C (COM Port)

From time to time 4. Closed is hightlighted and I have to set it again...?

Good luck,
Sandy

PS.
Oops, sorry, didn't see that rebooting the phone also worked. But perhaps this will work for you as well should it happen again. Maybe rebooting sets the PC Connection back...?

I dont know much about this, but i have fooled around with connecting my phone to my PC, i have a vx 8100, and a USB data cable with a box in the middle, i have downlaoded drivers and yet still get no response, i tried rebooting and that didnt work, there must be a simple task i am missing...any help please!!
