Any Treo-to-Smartphone switchers here?

Is there anyone here who has switched from using a Treo 600 or 650 and is now using a WM Smartphone? I have a Sprint Treo 650, and really like its PDA abilities, but sometimes it is just to big to carry in my pocket. I was thinking of looking into an iMate SP3 or maybe an MPX220.

Just wondering if anyone here has been in the same situation...

I've used both the 600 and 650, but didn't like the palm OS or the large antenna snagging on things. I'm quite happy with my MPX220, and Ebay was happy with my Treo's.

I agree with mds.geist I used the Treo 600 and I like the ease and use of my mpx220, and the antenna of treo is big and snags and I like my mpx220 with no antenna alot better. I did however like the EDGE on the Treo 650, browsing was way faster.

I've had a treo 600, treo 650, mpx220 and smt5600. I prefer the smaller smartphones with a standard keypad and don't care about a touch screen. I'm currently using a Nokia 6620, but will switch back to an MS smartphone when either the new firmware for the 220 is available or the 5600 is released by Cingular (or a Nokia 6682 if it comes first ).

I have a SMT 5600. I switched from a SE P900. BUT before I did I was very, very close to buying a Treo 650. I am glad I didn't buy the Treo. I really like the smaller form factor that the SMT 5600 has over the Treo and P900.
If either one of the smartphones will run on your network, see if you can "test drive" one.

For me, I have a phone, contacts, calendar (sync with outlook), web and messaging (if I need it) in the SMT 5600. THAT and it is not much bigger than an SE T616/610.

I have owned a Treo 650, MPx220, and now a Samsung i600 from Sprint. I really miss the Treo, it is much better as a PDA. However, the Smartphone is better for making calls. My flip phone is much easier to manage and dial while driving.

If you need a PDA first and a phone second, get the Treo 650. If you need a phone first, and a PDA second, get the Smartphone.

Note: The cam on the MPx220 really sucks. The .3 Megapixal cam on the Treo is better that the 1.3 Megapixal on the MPx220.

I have a Treo 600 and so far it's been great to me. I'd like to test run other devices though.

Have a MPx200 coming in and I'm going to play around with that to see if it's worth spending big bucks on MS Smartphones.

The Treo does everything I want it to do, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to pay for Versamail; I'd also like a fully function WAP browser (Blazer doesn't do wap very well but it can)

I had a Treo 600 before I got my MPx220. I did like the larger screen size but it was just too much of a brick to carry around and the antennae sticking out the top was annoying.

Since my needs are a phone first then PDA I prefer the MPx220, glad I made the switch.

I have had the Treo 600 and 650 and a couple of older versions of Treo. I got tired of carrying around such a large phone. My MPX220 is compact, but has great features that I love. I can check and send email on it and I don't really miss the full keyboard. I can listen to MP3's with great stereo sound. I can watch my WMV videos on the phone. The camera works well enough. But best of all it is really much easier to write my own portable apps with Microsoft's tools than it was to write for the Palm OS.

When I bought the phone it had the latest firmware and I never had any volume problems. As a matter of fact, this is the best speakerphone I have ever used. Plus the Treo had some annoying elements of the call history that the MPX220 does not suffer from.

If I ever do go back to a full keyboard model it will be something with the Windows Mobile OS and a cool clamshell design like the new MPX that may or may not come into actual existence in the market.

I tried the Treo 600 and sent it back. I now use both an i-mate jam and SMT5600. Quite frankly, the jam is a wonderful device, but I never cease to be amazed at what the SMT5600 can do!

The form factor is very small, and I use it daily to automtically download office emails using Always Up To Date Feature of Exhange Server 2003. It works like a charm. I would not want to type out a 500 word response to an email, but using t9 recognition is pretty **** fast with the keypad, and the phone has voice tags that can be used with my Jabra 250 Bluetooth headset. SMT5600 is a great, great, phone in my opinion, if you can live without a keyboard.

Right now I have a treo600. My antennae does not sag but I am still switching.

The main reason is the PalmOS. It simply does not give me the flexibilty I need. Things as simple as viewing a .jpeg are not possible on my Palm. I cannot open my word or excel files. I can't save a webpage to my SD card for later viewing on my handheld. It's a pain trying to filemanage the files on my SD card.

The tiny buttons on the keypad are pain to use.

Also, the size and weight of the unit are on the high end.

And lastly, the screen is poor and the battery is not removeable (these things somewhat fixed on the 650).

You can open a jpeg, Word and Excel on a treo 600 if they are loaded on a SD card and are using Splashphoto and Documents to Go.

True but my issue is that these things should be integrated into the OS. And then again even if I do buy these programs they don't do me much good with the low-res screen.

I own both the Treo 650 and the MPX220. While I prefer the size and form factor of the MPX220 I am drawn to the Palm for the features. The Palm is larger but is more powerful than the MPX220. The querty keyboard, touch screen, plus support of Class 10 Edge are the features that won me over. This is my first Treo but I have grown to love it. I have owned many Motorola phones but lately they have been very buggy. It took me a while to configure the Palm the way I wanted it but now I am quite happy.
