i have an unlocked bberry 7100 using a cingular sim. I am planning to be in europe soon and plan to buy a local sim card which will give me a local number. That will allow me to receive calls for free. But, does the caller from the US still have to pay international rates on their end. Also, can I receive email when using a different sim.

The only way you will be able to receive e-mails (or browse the internet) is if the local carrier supports the BlackBerry, and the SIM card is provisioned with a BlackBerry Data Plan. Fairly unlikely.

Concerning the voice calls, if you have a local number in the forgein country, and people call you from another country, they will have to pay for an international call.
