7100 Changing Entry Mode

How do you change your entry mode when in the top right hand corner you see "Abc" and your typing is different? ANy ideas or am I even being clear enough? I have done it before but for the life of me cant remember how.

When in text edit (or typing mode), press and hold the * key.
