I'm planning on getting the new Audiovox / UTStarcom CDM-8940 from Verizon Wireless once I can get my number transfered over from Cingular. I have a few questions i'd like to have answered before i get it.

1- Does this phone have bluetooth connection to PC?
2- Does this phone allow for Themes? Wallpapers? Assigned ringtones and pictures to callers?
3- Does it have MP3, Poly, or Mono ringtone or all?
4- Can you change the faceplates?
5- Is there anything cool about this phone that I should know about?

I hope someone can help answer these because the outside of the phone looks great, i just hope the inside is just as good! Thanks!!

1. No bluetooth is not built into the phone at all.

2. There isnt any way to get themes into it yet that i know of but you can get wall papers, assign ringtones and pictures to callers although the pictures do not show up on the outer screen. My favorite part is the ability to assign seperate ringtones for text messages and phone calls from the same person. I have tons of short movie quote wavs on my phone now for text messages. I guess im easily amoused.

3. it does do all three ringtone types.

4. there are no faceplates for it. I think its still too new and expensive for a large enough amount of people to have it to warrent them. which makes me sad because i just dropped mine like an idiot and it pains me to see it scarred.

5. go to phonescoop.com and read the review and features of the phone.

Verizon realy only locked up partial use of the sd card. they made it so pictures and video cannot be transfered from the phone to a computer. There is no way to unlock it in the phone and there are no other features to unlock. some people are reporting that they can get pictures from the phone with the data cable though.

It might be that im just blind but i cant find a spell checker anywhere when i post in here. anyone?

as long as i can transfer ringtones and wallpapers to it through a date cable then i'll be happy. too bad my bluetooth adapter i bought for my computer ain't gettin much use anymore lol. thanks for all the posts everyone!

how to you assign different ringtones for different people. I have been trying to figure it out and I couldn't.

Go into contacts, select the person you want to assign a ringer to. Press ok to edit the contact, then scroll down until you see ringer and msg ringer, select ok on ringer or msg ringer and pick the tone you want. If you press the left or rght button it will go to different tones screens like the default tones and the downloaded tones.

The data cables that are on ebay are they any good? or should i pay more and have radioshack ship me one? they don't have them in the stores here.

I have an 8940, and had a question, hopefully someone can answer. There is a little rubber thing above the flash, on the back of the phone. If you take it out, there is a little plug in there. Does anyone know what that plug is, or what it is used for??

LOL! me and my hubby have been wondering the same thing! It's not listed anywhere on the manual. He also has one on his Samsung phone!

I don't have one of these phones, but if I had to guess, the "little rubber thing" is a plug that covers a connection to an external antenna.

Just an educated guess.
