Question about my N-gage and memory

I recently won an auction on EB for a regular (taco) N-gage. Here's how I'd like to set it up.

On the phone memory: Profimail, WirelessIRC, DorisBrowser, Netfront or Opera, and AgileMessenger

On the MMC: All downloaded sis games and java games, plus "media" such as MP3s, videos, etc.

That way, if I'm out an about with my N-gage and have a game in the slot like PocketKingdoms, I'll still be able to do internet stuff like check email.

My question is, does the N-gage have enough memory to install all those apps to memory, and not have any problems later on with "out of memory" errors when running apps (like the 3650 does a lot.)

You can place quite a few things on the internal memory but to be on the safe side, make sure you leave 1 MB free to ensure that you don't wipe out internal memory needed for the startup and RAM/ROM memory loading sequence. A number of N-Gage users have had this problem and they had to send the N-Gage to Nokia to have the phone reflashed in order to clear the startup problem (named the White Screen of Death - WSOD - for the screen with the blue Nokia logo preventing a clean start since the phone shuts off without going to the standby screen).

CORRECTION: into your MMC...whats with me?!

I saw that and was wondering if you meant the internal memory or the MMC.

Posted by: angel_wing0

yeah maybe i was dream typing back then...

OK I'll probably put all those Internet Apps on the MMC as well. That way all I'll have is contacts, ringtones, etc on the actual phone.

Posted by: angel_wing0

no...my suggestion is to put EVERYTHING in your MMC unless the app MUST be on your phone memory...

Personally, I like to offload all apps onto the MMC in order to keep the internal memory free for SMS and contacts. This way, I don't have to worry about the internal memory running out.

exactly

I have to put at least 1 ringtone on my phone instead of the MMC, otherwise my phone won't ring when I have a game in.

Right?

Posted by: angel_wing0

no...put it in the sounds directory on your mmc

Posted by: UScr00ge

Hmmmm.

When my phone rings, and i have Pocket Kingdoms in, how is my phone supposed to play a ringtone on the MMC when the MMC is laying on my desk?

Posted by: angel_wing0

oh then u'll have to put it on your phone...
