ok, lets try this again. i've read through almost every thread on here pertaining to the LG VX6000, but there isn a solution for this yet. my previous thread for solving this has gone unanswered as well.

lets get down the basics-

the problem: ringtones (.midi files) transfer over to phone, but never show up in media folder.

the situation: i am running soundforge to resample the 30sec clips at 22050Hz; 32kbps; mono.

the equipment: i am using QPST and a data cable for transfers.

the method: everything goes acording the the guides found ON THIS SITE until it is time to actually play the songs on my phone. NOTHING IS THERE!!!

i have tried putting them into the users/sound/ringer and the mms/sound directories in QPST EFS Explorer. even now, EFS Explorer shows i have about 6 ringtones, all midi format. they are all under 150kb in size

now here's the wierd thing: the first one i put on there was about 96kb and it plays just fine and shows up in the media folder on the 6000. since that one, nothing will show up on the phone even when i am staring at them in EFS Explorer right now!!!!

i really need a solution to this, so if someone could please help me out here. this is my second attempt at getting a response from anyone on this board - its like a ghost town out here

With QPST, after you add a ringer, you have to delete the
'brewRingerIndex.map' file located in the "download/dloadindex" directory. Once that file is deleted, reboot the phone, and the file will be rebuilt.

This is what I have to do w\my vx4700, but the structure should be the same on both phones.

AWESOME!!!!!!! it finally worked.

nowhere was this ever mentioned in any FAQ/guide i've ever seen regarding the 6000 or ringtones in general.
