**new ATT/Cingular + D500 = WAP Works! MMS Problems/Solutions **

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: gundie

I live in SoCal and just got my D500 yesterday. After reading messages here regarding the wap issue with Cingular, I had my doubt, but after following the setting provided by lildan409, my D500 can get on the internet without problem. MMS works as well. Just follow the steps and you should be fine. Here are the settings again (credit goes to lildan409!):

GPRS
Profile Name: Express
Home URL: http://device.home
Bearer: GPRS Only
Proxies: Enabled

Then go to GPRS Settings, dont worry about GSM settings they do not apply to us.

IP - 66.209.11.32
Port: 8080
APN: wap.cingular
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
(All upper case)
Password: CINGULAR1
(All upper case)

Then Save the settings and your internet will work. Also be sure to sett your current proxy to this setting.

Now for MMS settings which I am sure you will ask after you get your internet working.

Settings Name: Multimedia
Homepage: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Proxies: Enabled
Version: 1.2 (295KB)

Then go to GPRS Settings.

IP: 66.209.11.32
Port: 8080
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (upper case)
Password:CINGULAR1 ( upper case)

Gundie, thank you so very much for your very detailed codes. I have been going looney tunes for the last month trying to get the d500 internet to work with cingular and was ready to send the phone back. The owner of Celluloco where I bought the phone told me about this website yesterday and late last night I found your post, entered your settings and it works great! I am so appreciative for your information. Now ... I just have to figure out how to set my d500 to get my AOL e-mail.

You're very welcome. Glad you got it working!

Have anyone ever experience this I am getting a 500 internal server error code. I used the setting and the internet was working but now I am not getting online at all.

Posted by: HDk

yes same here, please help!

Posted by: stringbean965

same here cant get it to work please someone help, I tried eveything cleared cache, deleted profile and reentered it, took my battery out, took sim card out, it just wont work, please find a solution, i need my mms. I called cingular and spoke to a tech and they said they are having data problems in my area which would give me that error. I am from philadelphia, she told me nothing has changed and that even normal cingular phones are getting the same error messages. She says name, APN, port, IP are all the same. I am hoping she knows what she is talking about but they ususally do not. So at this point just keeping my fingers crossed.

gundie, are you using the following IP ....66.209.11.32 because this seems to be the one having trouble and was curious to know if when yours is working is working off of this IP?

Yes, that's the IP I'm using.

is it possible for the people that has WAP + MMS working to post their settings since it's still not working...greatly appreciate it!!

Posted by: ich4fun

check this site http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic28873.html
I just tried and it's working!!!!

Posted by: cmac08902

I read the post. If you leave all the setting blank, how do you get the phone to automatically register the settings? I used a blank profile and powered off and on, but still nothing. I'm obviously missing something here. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Posted by: ich4fun

Leave all setting blank and save. Make sure you select that profile then from home screen press center key to access wap. I hope this help. Good luck.

Posted by: cmac08902

Thanks. I'll try that.

There is obviously something very wrong and/or lacking from this. The phone isn't going to know what APN to use, for example. It's not going to have the idea of a password and user name, etc.

If someone claims that leaving all fields blank works, I'm skeptical. Just to validate this, I tried it. The first thing that pops up on the phone is "Error: Network unavailable" So, if someone claims this is working, why don't they just post the settings that the phone "automatically" put in when leaving the fields blank?

Leaving the home page blank, and the IP address blank will default to OpenWave's WAP site---but this is not MEdia Net.

New info for D500 wap. Its the homepage blocking from connecting. They must have coded for device.home to only work with their model phones. use all the same settings and instead of enabling proxy disable it and in GPRS put the IP 066.209.011.061 or 066.209.011.032 in DNS 1 and leave the other blank and then put the APN: wap.cingular (case sensative) and User name :WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (case sensative) Password CINGULAR1 (case sensative) so it looks like this.
Name: MEdia NEt
Home URL: yahoo.com (or whatever page you like that works)
Bearer: GPRS only
Proxy: Disable

GPRS Settings:
DNS1: 066.209.011.061 or 066.209.011.032
DNS2: 0.0.0.0
APN: wap.cingular
Login ID: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

The last thing is I have not found a hompage that will let you get Cingulars home where the all the cingular ringtones and stuff are but you can dowlaod them anyway so ill keep trying. But ringtones dont work to download from there anyway based on the model and the way they configure it. I hope this helps it did with me.

posted this twice sorry

Posted by: stringbean965

what about mms, thats the main thing i really need with the phone it worked before then cingular had to go out their way to make my life suck

Posted by: cmac08902

I need that as well. This is such a pain. Everything was working, then MMS failed and now the net. Well, I got the net working, but MMS is still a loss.

Posted by: cmac08902

Recently Cingular has done something to their network that makes logging on to the network difficult. I have the new settings and have been able to login to MEdiaNet with yahoo as a homepage. However, all MMS is not working as I cannot send nor receive. Does anybody have current working MMS settings for the D500?

Posted by: mudger

BUMP!!!

everytime I try to open a MMS it says "unknown subscriber" both I and the person sending them to me have cingular so it shouldn't be a problem???

If any one knows how to get a d500 working with cingular let me know please. it was working but all it shows me is NETWORK BUSY.HeLLLLLLLLLLLLppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

i've been reading up on the d500 and the mms/wap problems, however im a little stupider than most lol so i was wondering if someone can give me settings on how to activate mms? (prefferably just mms and now wap or both if need be). Or better yet step by step? some of the posts seem too complicated.....i found a post thats very similar but it regards att users....thanks guys! oh and by the way i love this fone! my gf will like it too when she steals it from me =(

Ever since this phone has been made available online and in third-party retailers, it seems those that have Cingular (not so much the former AT&T Wireless customers) have not been able to get either the WAP and or MMS/Picture Messaging to work properly.

Please post your questions or solutions regarding the D500 being used on Cingular.

Not sure if this is going to help as I don't have a D500 to try it on, but I've searched and found some of the settings from other Samsungs from Cingular and have compiled them below. I have noticed that the Browser Version WAP 2.0: Nokia: TSS 2.5 is used in both the P207 and P777, but the settings are slightly different. Take note of the "Proxy Settings: wireless.cingular.com and Port: 80" which have not been mentioned in other settings for the other Samsungs in the past.

I'm technically an AT&T wireless customer in San Francisco, but I get Cingular bills. Do you think this will work for me? Or will I need to migrate first?

If you have an AT&T Wireless SIM and use mMode, go to this thread in the FAQ Section that has the mMode settings that works.

D500 + AT&T mMode/WAP/MMS = Solution

I just got my D600 on Monday and put in the settings posted in the first post and both my WAP and MMS are working properly.

Tested the MEdia Net by going to my MEdia Net E-mail and was able to view my old e-mails (since I don't really use it anymore) that is still in my Inbox.

Posted wirelessly on HowardForums from it in the "Samsung D600 is out" thread. See my single post by clicking on this link: Post #185

Sent an MMS/Picture Message successfully to my AT&T Wireless phone the SGH-E316 and received one from it successfully.

SIM used is a 32K from the California market with the old $19.99 MEdia Works w/ U/L WIX, 1500 SMS, 250 MMS currently being used in Norfolk, Virginia on the new Cingular network acquired from SunCom and now changed to have the MNC of 310-410 instead of the 310-490 MNC that belonged to SunCom.

So the settings are correct.

They are the same as the D500. I've used them in my D600 and they work perfectly. Even the T-Mobile settings for the D500 work for me as well with my T-Mobile SIM.

I was having problems sending MMS messages via my D500 on Cingular's network. I sent my D500 in for a software upgrade per a friend's suggestion and now the phone can send MMS messages once again. Also, I used to always be connected via Cingular Extend on the phone's screen. Now it is connecting via Cingular's main network.

Posted by: ZSupra1221

when i was able to send and receive mms i had the older software and i upgraded it and now it doesnt work

Posted by: arrrmand

i managed to get the internet working with these settings, but for some reason, i can't retrieve mms messages. i did test out sending them with the 200kb limit and it worked, but retrieving a 29kb picture from a friend won't work. any ideas on why this is so? i used the settings from the first page.

the error message reads "HTTP service fail"

Posted by: grifflax

me too. got the Cingular internet setings to work....but receiving mms gets error messages.Argggghhhh!!

Posted by: PuPpYpWr

this i what i found out my gprs worked for 2days then stop working but the csd is till working and not blocking the home page. this is all on d600. i am beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why the gprs isn't working just doesn't make sense, plugs in everything as set. my wife d500 works perfectly. but my d600 no gprs only csd.

Posted by: Mango808

How do you know it is CSD and not just GPRS? Go back and double check the settings you put in as you may have changed or missed something.

By the way, why or where did you put in the CSD settings in the first place? I have a D600 and put in the GPRS/MMS settings from the first page and it works. Never even thought of putting in the CSD settings as why would I if I have a MEdia Works plan.

Posted by: PuPpYpWr

well if its call the 14152441012 and its says gsm on the screen i know its csd. for sure

Posted by: Mango808

Go through the settings and make sure you only enable GPRS Only in the Bearer. When you drop down to GSM Settings go into it and make sure the Proxy IP is 0.0.0.0 and there is nothing in the Dial number box, then save it.

Double check everything and if you have to, re-enter it all again letter by letter, number by number and pay attention to the upper and lowercase letters as they are case sensitive.

Someone had hhtp instead of http for the URL and that is why it never worked. Another mentioned above they didn't have the 1 in the password so it never connected.

Posted by: PuPpYpWr

followed your instruction now i have "error:connection to server lost" this is in huntington beach, ca

Posted by: Mango808

Does the internet work with your SIM in your other phones or is it not working as well?

You didn't by chance use the GPRS Tool code (*#4777*8665#) to change anything as in enabling EGPRS Mode now did you? If you did, change it back to GPRS Mode as when I used it, I got the error messages with my T-Mobile SIM and settings. Once I changed it back, it connected without any problems.

Posted by: PuPpYpWr

no i did not change the setting but anyways my medianet wa finally working after 8pm last night must be the service provider doing some maintenance or somethin i jusst don't know it was wierd

Posted by: dmanikas

are working but I still have a problem. When I send a pic no matter how big it is it comes through as 2KB. Why is it compressing the photo?? Even if I recieve one from someone elses phone it does that. Any ideas??

hey i just got a d600 andi cant get wap to work i have tryed all the settings and all i get is "Error: Network unavailable" and there is no G next to the signal strength. but my MPX220 works just fin where i am, any ideas?

Posted by: Bjhuse

Using the setting on this thread I've been able to get my new D600 working on WAP/MMS and the internal email against my company servers (IMAP and SMTP). Now the next phase -- which is to use my D600 as a modem via bluetooth with my palm T3. I could do this on my last phone phone (sony Z600) with ATT, but I've not been able to get a connection with the D600.

I can initiate a 'G' connection on the D600 from my palm (so it dials *99#), but it always times out trying to sign on.

BTW -- I have the "Data connect" service purchased from cingular, specifically to use my Palm T3 to connect to the internet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks to everyone who have already posted great solutions....

Posted by: Bjhuse

Got the data connection on the d600 figured out.

Man is it fast compared to using the SE z600 on ATTs network.

Posted by: kt_1124

i put these settings into my phone for the wap and the mms profiles and it worked but the directions say to enter the user name as WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM is that suppose to go in the spotfor the login id because i don't have a spot labeled user name? because if it is it is too long. i can only put 20 characters in there. i am so confused.

Posted by: avenged56

do you guys have the little G on the top of the phone? becuase mine doesnt and im thinking that may be the problem

How Do I Get Mms To Work If I Have A Att Sim??

Posted by: ramis

I use Cingular, I entered the WAP and MMS settings listed in the first message in this thread, and they work. I can get on the internet with the phone, and I can send MMS messages. However, I can only send a message to another cell phone number. When I try to send a message to an email address, I get an error message "email network fail". Can anyone give me the settings for what the Email Profile (Option 4 in Email Settings Menu) should be?

I tried these settings, which aren't working:

Profile Name: MEdia Net
APN: wireless.cingular.com
Login ID: WAP@CINGULARGPRS
Password: CINGULAR1
DNS1: 66.209.11.61
DNS2: 66.209.11.61

Basically use the same setting you use for the multimedia messages.

I figured it out on my own:

APN: wap.cingular

Password: CINGULAR1

Hey everyone

I just got this phone (D500) as a gift and I'm having the toughest time getting the WAP or MMS to work, i must have read this thread 3 times over and cannot figure it out. My settings are as follows:

Profile Name: MEdia NEt
Home URL: http://device.home
Bearer: GPRS Only
Proxy: Enable

GPRS Settings
IP Address: 66.209.11.32
Port: 8080
APN: wap.cingular
Login ID: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

MMS Settings:
Profile Name: Multimedia
Server URL: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: Enable
Version: 1.2 (295KB)

GPRS Settings: Same as above

Now, whne i try to connect, the little G will show up at the top of my screen, but I always get the error message "Error: Connection to server lost"

It would be a real bummer if this didn't work, I would be primarily using this phone for data, but some of you seem to know what you are doing and have gotten it to work. I live in Central NH (Concord Area). I would really appreciate anybody's help

Thanks in advance!
Seb

now, if i can only get opera mini to work....

Does anyone know what the password setting is for a D500 on O2(uk)? I tried to go to a URL and it came up with a password bar. I don't know what it is! :S Can anyone help with that, please?

It's a tricky phone to use...

Posted by: Demos

I've tried the settings on here but I just get Error: Network unavailable each time. I've also gone in the GPRS settings and tried the Attach option, both automatically and manually. Is there something else I need to turn on the use the internet? I also noticed that I'm not seeing the G icon on the phone no matter what I try (I've got a D600). Thanks.

Posted by: Mango808

The D600 doesn't display the G on the top menu all the time like the Cingular/AT&T Samsungs do. The only time the G appears on my D600 is when I connect and use GPRS.

Also make sure the GPRS Setting is set to GPRS Mode and not to EGPRS Mode. When I had it on EGPRS Mode, it would not work. I even setup T-Mobiles settings to use my T-Mobile account and it would not work until I put it on GPRS Mode.

I've just checked and it is set on GPRS Mode. Is there anything else? I've just re-entered the settings and password again, making sure I got the CAPs in the right places but still no internet.

my GPRS is not working

I have had this poor phone for about 6 weeks and the mms settings have never worked so maybe some of you Cingular people can tell me what, if anything(but I'm sure they have) those morons have done to block out mms from "non-cingular" phones. If I put my sim in my nokia 6230 mms works fine but if refuses to work on the d600. If anyone has a possible solution, and not trying to be smartarse answers like "use the settings from page one" I would appreciate it. If you don't know, don't respond because I have tried the settings, they are entered by case sensitivity and still don't work.

My thanks to all who have contributed to this post. I can finally enjoy my D820 on Cingular. Now if you could just make the battery last longer.

I just got the T809 and I've got a Cingular SIM. I found your instructions and was wondering two things... will these instructions work with the T809, and if so, how do I even get started? I mean, 'Settings for Dummies'.
(I can't even find the slot for the USB cable on this phone) DUH! I hope you don't mind.

Thanks!

I just got a Samsung D820 unlocked and I am trying to figure out how to get it online and get mms to work. I have tried the settings listed and they don't work. I called Cingular and they were no help. They asked for the IMEI# and wanted to verify the SIM #. I shouldn't have told them the phone I was using but I wanted them to send the settings via text message like they have done in the past with my N-Gage. Those guys and I'm sure others at other providers need better training and communication. They don't know sh*t, and tell you the wrong answer before they will say they don't know. BTW, I'm in SoCal if it makes a difference. I am thinking of calling back and telling them that I am switching back to my Nokia and giving them that IMEI #.

If you go to the post on how to set up your phone you shouldn't have a problem. You are right about Cingular not helping. They just brought out their version of the D820 (the D807). I have enjoyed my D820 on the Cingular network. Good luck.

Just got a Vodaphone SS804 / Samsung z548/z540 overseas and finally got the following settings to work with Cingular in the Los Angeles area. Actually, they worked in Tokyo too so something must be right!

Enjoy,

Dennis.

I am using the settings in the first post in my unlocked D600 and I can't get cingular MMS to work. I can receive MMS, although there is a significant delay, but I cannot send them at all. Any help?

Posted by: droisman

Double check the settings in your phone, it's very easy to enter info wrong.

Posted by: brian3408

try port 80 instead of 8080 this solved the problem on my d600 also never waste your time calling your service provider they dont know anything

Posted by: alero

More and more people seem to be having this problem. I've entered every damn setting Iv'e found with no luck at all. I'm getting ready to smash this little bugger!

Does this WAP solution work on the d900 for Cingular as well?

I'd like to find out before purchasing. Thanks!

Cant seem to fine the Cingular wap setting for samsung e730 under Samsung FAQ or Cingular FAQ, does anyone have them or can post what they are?? Thanks!!!

Posted by: ginamshearer

Did you get your internet working? I am having the same problem with my Samsung D900. Same error message. What does it mean?

Posted by: ginamshearer

Did you ever get help? I am having the same issue and Cingular refuses to help because it's not one of their phones.

Posted by: ginamshearer

I seem to be having the same problem as you. Did you say you can connect to the internet, but you are receiving the Error message when you try to purchase the ringtone you sent to your phone?

Posted by: ginamshearer

What did you do to get your samsung D900 to work on the internet. I can get on, but when I send a ringtone to my phone, log on and try to pay for it I get the message: HTTP Error: 500 Internal Server Error. Could you please email me with suggestions! So frustrating. GinaS@BardenElectric.com

thanks!

Bump for working settings on D900. Anyone have them?

Posted by: jpak525

thank a lot for the info...so relieved now!

Posted by: sparda716

once u set all of this up, does it make ur internet free??? or wat does it do?

Nothing is free. You will need to have a Data plan (i.e. MEdia Net, MEdiaWorks, MEdiaMax) on your account to use the WAP Browser or you end up using it Pay Per Use and rack up a huge bill.

The above is to get your non-Cingular branded phone to use Cingulars MEdia Net vice what was pre-programmed into the phone to use.

My wife has the D500 unlocked and we have yet to get the settings to work for mms and wap.

I also have the U600 unlocked and can not get this to work either.

Is there something else todo?

Posted by: mastermind26

small update: My wife's phone (D500) now is able to send and receive mms and wap. Both work beautifully. I did nothing out of the ordinary, just changed settings and changed back, then changed again and it works now.

For mine (U600) I was able to solve the WAP browsing, but mms does not work straight out. If I send an mms by creating a draft and sending, it doesn't go and gets returned. If I take a picture and attach a message it goes fine.

What gives? Any clues? Plz help.

Hey everyone,

Can I assume that the sgh-u100 will need the same exact information to enable browsing as what is listed here? I'm trying the below, and I do have a [G] icon working, but it always says "Service unavailable"... is there any more to this? Thanks! I'm on Cingular (now ATT) in San Francisco. Note, u100 only has the 1900 band, no 850...

How did you get caps on the u600 for the username and password?

I'm a Samsung newbie...

I have a D900i coming from the UK as a backup that will be unlocked, but probably O2-branded. Will these settings work for me as I use AT&T for service? Will they work find on the D900i?

Posted by: beachbaby

Hi, i am interested in getting a u600. Where can i find the ATT settings for mms & internet? Can i enter it manually ? I thought i might of read somewhere that for this phone, you have to download/input the settings via PC (& usb). Are there any issues w/ not being able to download from ATT internet (ringtones, etc...)? Thanks in advance!!

READ BELOW...
Question I'm located in the USA and I purchased an Unlocked Samsung SGH-E250 Silver Tri-Band and I can recieve a music ringtone text messag, but I cannot Download the Music Ringtone. It tells me to go open the wap link, which I cannot. I cannot attach and send pictures by text messaging. I'm on AT&T who does not support Unlocked phones. What do I do ? AT&T said Unlocking removes some features ? Help.
Yes, I know and yes it is true. Mobile phones often lose the browser default settings and sometimes have other configuration/setting problems when you unlock them. I have heard the range of issues from can't manually choose a network to won't send text messages. It is usually resource intensive for the carrier ( AT&T WILL NOT ) to solve the problem (and no guarantee you will stay with them) so that is why they would prefer you to use one of their branded phones. From a support and training standpoint it is just easier. At any rate, sorry for the troubles and have you tried to manually program in the WAP settings? ( HOW ? )

If not, the instructions are below:

http://www.wirelessgalaxy.com/mobil...ms_settings.asp (NO HELP )

And you should also attempt to download the operamini.com web browser so that you will not be 'restricted' in the sites you can view from your mobile. ( NOT FOR AT&T )

Lastly, you might want to visit www.howardforums.com and see if there is a thread on there for this phone. Usually they are a great resource for tech heads that have experimented with all kinds of configurations and applications on their phones. ( HERE NOW )

PLEASE HELP !
