Reception Problem with se47

Hello everyone, newbie here.
I picked up a used se47 two weeks ago for a fairly good price. I ended up replacing the housing since the original as a bit scratched. I had to mix & match some parts of the new case and the old one because I ran into a few problems. One of which I think I am to blame for ..... I think I might have messed up part of the antenna.
My suspicion is that the top most part where the antenna slides into might be the problem. One side of the brass looking clip is cracked and im not sure if it is making contact to the phone's board. I tried putting a piece of foil to help it reach the board, but that didnt seem to help at all.
Now when I replaced the case, I had a lot of trouble fitting that part in its place. I had to scrape away a fairly amount of plastic on the housing to make that metal piece fit in. Has anyone ever had this problem or have any ideas how I may be able to fix this?
I have already transfered my account to this phone and it works great......only problem is that I have 1 or no bars at all and drops calls. TIA.

If it's a verizon phone then you can take it to the store and say that a store in another state or something tried putting on the housing for you and they messed up and refused to help me. That probably would work

Well I already tried the verizon store earlier today. They said that they could not service the phone for a few reasons.
One, I did not purchase the phone from verizon and it is not listed on my client history.
Two, the store that I went to does not have any techs available to service it.
And three, they said the case should not have been changed.....that one doesnt make any sense to me.
They told me of a store that does have techs available in Santa Monica here in So Cali, so I will give them a try sometime this week.
I also asked if they were able to transfer all my contacts from my LG phone to the Kyo once its up and going, and they said they can for $10........another one that dont make any sense.
I will try and take some close pics of my phone once I get home, perhaps that will aid my problem.

if the phone is working without too much problem, you could always try putting in an antenna booster and see if that helps a little.
also, I broke the top of my antenna off from the part that sticks into the phone and I've used my phone fine without the antenna. it's barely affected my calling signal and I still get 4 bars in lots of areas around the city. I don't know if there's an internal antenna but the one that comes out seems like it doesn't help a whole bunch.
and 5-10 dollars is the usual cost for transferring contacts from one phone to another. most providers will charge that. even more so since the phone wasn't bought through them.

If that contact is boffed up even the slightest it's going to screw up your reception.
You said it's cracked. Is the crack something you can try to solder for a temporary solution? In the longrun you're going to need that piece replaced

Thanks for your replies. I finally got the phone to display more than 1 bar. I tried different shapes and sizes of foil until finally one worked.
Now all I have to do is get my contacts transfered over and perhaps get that data cabe and cd. Im just not sure if its worth spending about $50 to just be able to change ringtones and a wall paper

Who said anything about a datacable being 50 bucks???? I got mine for 10 bucks! Try ebay or www.daydeals.com

yeah seriously. if you search the forums, not only can you find the drivers for your computer, but also the programs to use with the data cable. most data cables on ebay can be found for around 5 bucks. I got mine for only 3 bucks with 2 dollar shipping.

WHAT?!?!?!
Then I have to go and do some homework of my own then.
Thanks a lot guys. But any chance you may be able to point me in the right direction....being a newbie im not sure excactly what programs I need.

Thanks sliderdude, I already searched ebay and found tons of data cables available. Any specific vendor that does have good workin cables for the se47 on ebay?

generally you want to find one that has the driver cd's, I prefer the USB link data cable(but I don't think these cables recharge your phone while it's hooked up to your computer), but yeah, go for simple. you don't need anything with ringtones and wallpapers, those can all be made on your own and transferred right to your phone. if you need help, here's a link to most all the available modifications for your phone. that should get you started, don't forget to use the search button before asking any more questions
