Originally posted by islandsnow for those of you who upgraded your firmware on your cingular or ATT phones i have a couple of questions as i'm not sure how these firmware upgrades work.. 1) after the upgrade, does the gprs settings carry over or do you need to create a new one so that it knows to use cingular gprs? does it automatically pick up those settings the next time you try to connect? 2) if i backed up my treo to a sd card, after doing the upgrade, can i just do a restore? or will a restore also restore back the old firmware? thanks... |

Originally posted by swerv you can download xmpressmail from cingular again.. but yeah if you do the 1.21 upgrade, which will be the best thing ever, since it runs so nice... you end up with a unbranded stock palmone treo 650... still locked if urs was originally. I heard you can get it at https://xpressmail.cingular.com/ |

Originally posted by pek01 I am not as technically on top of things as some of you. I would like to take advantage of the new Firmware Update and have a couple of clarifications to ask? 1) If I get the firmware update, are all of the programs and settings lost in the Treo 650? 2) I installed the Good Messaging system for work purposes, will that remain or be lost after the update? 3) Do I have to ask Cingular for some kind of code if I install the Firmware update or does the phone reconnect to them without intervention? Thanks for your patience in sharing this information. This forum is great. |

Originally posted by craigg The reply in the prior thread was not accurate. You will not lose any programs or settings if you back them up first either via a sync to your desktop computer or by using a backup program such as Backupman which is free to try. Also, you can go back to a prior version as I have done it. I have an unlocked AT&T Treo 650, first I upgraded to 1.15, then to 1.21, and then I downgraded back to 1.15 because the handset and headset volume were better for me with 1.15. You can't go back to the original AT&T/Cingular firmware unless you know someone that can provide it for you. I may try 1.23 but as of now I am very happy with v1.15.
