I wonder if Sprint will be getting it.. Note that it says brew AND java.. I read somewere that Kyocera was going to start making some Java versions of thier phones. They lost a big market when Sprint dropped them because they wouldnt load java instead of brew into the phone.

It will defenateally be for verizon. It's ment for verizon's future advanced ev-do network and will have push to talk and V-Cast and whatever elce verizon decites to offer

if the Remix has push-to-talk, then wouldn't it only be available on a PTT calling plan? Like the LG-VX4700? I think it's highly unlikley that it would have PTT capabilities.

It will have push to talk, but you don't have to enable it on your plan. It's part of verizon's future ev-do thingey. This is what i read on phonescoop

A new MVNO for active youth will be launching in the third quarter. Amp'd will use EV-DO phones running on Verizon's high speed network. All of the phones will feature Push to Talk, a camera, a memory card slot and an icon that will light up when the phone has EV-DO coverage. The carrier plans to have three models for sale at launch. The first will be a Kyocera slider similar to the recently announced Slider Remix that should sell for around $100. There will also be a mid-level slider from Motorola. A third phone is expected for launch, however the manufacturer and design have not been finalized. Amp'd will offer downloadable music, video and customization content hand selected for the carrier. In addition to video clips, they have built mobile broadcast units to stream live video from special events. In another bold move, all content on the handset, whether it has been downloaded or programmed by the user, will be backed up to Amp'd servers, and purchased music content can also be downloaded to users' PCs as well as the phone. The service will be available in both pre- and post- paid flavors and will be sold over the web and through select retail partners.

Where do you get that it will be push to talk?
No information from Kyrocera says anything about it having this feature.

Ok, so this article says similar to the slider remix, so that sounds good!

I'd much rather it have Bluetooth than PTT-right now it seems BT is almost a necessity for a high-end phone, while PTT is a niche feature at best. But I have to say, it looks like it's going to be a lot better than the original Slider and the Koi. Kyocera has the chance to have a real hit here, I just hope they don't blow it.

Why does it have to be the size of a *******ed nextel =/
As amazing as the features are, I wouldn't buy the phone because
of the size and the ugliness of it. It'd be awesome if they could shove
that same technology into the Slider SE47 casing. Dont you guys think
so?
I saw a website that said the retail on the new slider is
only like 100 bucks.. that cant be possible is it?

I hope other companies don't start making slide-style phones because
thats sort of why I got the SE47. Everyone has lameass flip-phones
and flip-phones are for girls. They all have their LG phone or
that ugly-*** samsung one.

When exactly will this new phone come out? When will us verizon kids be able to pick it up?

it's made that big because of the increase in screen size and increase in memory. if you didn't notice, the new slider's screen is almost as big as the entire SE47. it's made to have much more capabilities and therefore must have the memory and screen size to make up for it. the SE47 is made to be barebones, a few games, maybe a ringtone or two. small sreen size, while the remix will have gaming capabilities with plug in controller, a huge memory with memory sticks and the ability to use it like an ipod, and tons of other features. the SE47 would have to be just as big to have all those capabilities.

I think it looks UGLY doesnt look modern , looks like an old azz Nokia. Blaaaaaah. I love small Phones

Is there a possibility that this is not what the final phone will look like? I mean they could try to make the Remix in a shape that's more agreeable to the buyers.

After all.... I do love all the new features it has to offer than what the SE-47 had, but it does look rather retro.

IE: Nokia, old Moto, ect.....

I talked to a manager at the local Cricket dealership and she said a Kyocera rep demonstrated the Slider Remix to her.

Which means it is very likely Cricket will get the phone!

Here's to hoping!!! *fingers crossed*
