Choppy Screensaver Animation on KX2/KOI

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I notice that animated screensavers on my phone are choppy unless the phone is charging or connected to my PC.

This happens both with the .GIF animations I made for my phone as well as the default selection of screensavers. Everything else works fine otherwise.

Anybody else get this?

.....okay, it must be associated with some sort of "power save" feature, because the screensaver animations run smoothly when the phone is plugged-in, although I don't remember this ever being the case before.

I wonder if there is any way of hacking it out....?

There should be an optoion to cancel the power save mode in the display optoions in settings.

Yeah, I failed to mention that I had already tried that!

Anyone else experiencing choppy screensaver animations?

Is it still choppey.......(please excuse my ignorance)

Yeah, my anims are still choppy. Both the ones I created and the factory defaults.

I never noticed this before. Hope someone else here can confirm that this choppy animation is "normal"......

Do you happen to have a KOI in your too long list, sliderdude?

I wish, but no. I have had............

Kyocera 2325
Kyocera SE47(3)
Motorola Startac
Motorola 300D
Nokia 5160
LG V111
Audiovox 8610
Audiovox 8910(2)
Audiovox 9155-GPX
Samsung SCH-8500

I think thats all of em.........

I really want a KOI though, how is the phone other than the weird screensaver problem?

Daaaayyyyaamm, son--are you sure you have enough phones?

As for the KOI is nice, but like all good things, it has its caveats. Namely the swivel action: You will notice wear on it right away. And it is as big as a lawn chair when it folds out, but that's okay because I have large hands and don't mind the extra real estate.

I enjoy all of the features and the relative ease of it's hackability.

My only real complaint is its modest speaker volume level. I can barely hear my MP3's ringtones. But that's a fair trade for things like full motion video.

The camera performs well in daylight, but don't expect a Picasso indoors. I've seen better out of much cheaper phones. My Audiovox 8900, for example, never did me wrong! (Made a lot of VCD/DVD transfers without having to tweak the images at all!) Although image quality on the KOI leaves something to be desired, I am amazed at the image editing features built-in to the phone! You can edit pictures you saved by changing the brightness, contrast, sharpness, color saturation, etc.

This is definately the best Kyocera phone I have ever had, and the battery doesn't die on my every time I am in a deep or important conversation.......

I don't know if the screen saver thing is actually a "problem" per se unless someone else here can confim it.......

UPDATE: Just to confirm--screensaver animations are a standard "feature" for Cricket KOI phone!

What I meant to say was: "Choppy" screensaver animations are a standard "feature".

In other words: The choppiness is normal.

*phew!*

my koi (on VZW) has choppy animations too. If i go into the multimedia menu, and LOOK at the screensaver, then exit everything and let the phone turn on the screensaver, it wont be choppy for a few minutes, then, it'll start again. How weird

I would think that it has to do with your carrier, I have US Cellular which doesn't have MultiMedia and also doesn't have choppy screen savers.

Right.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

The guy at the Cricket dealership had a Koi and his screensaver was choppy as well.

orlando_65, by any chance, could you post or send me a screenshot of your mms settings for the koi? I can't seem to get mms working and i'm not sure why... I posted my settings on another thread. Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks.

Are you trying to get MMS for free?

My local Cricket provider says that there needs to be a software update for MMS to work on some phones that will be available sometime within the next week or so. They say you have to bring your phone in for them to reprogram it (they mentioned somehting about a "dongle", which is probably a glorified term for a data cable, I suspect).

When I first ordered MMS it was working perfectly, and then I was unable to send all of the sudden. But I am still able to receive just fine.

Check and see if you can send a picture message to your phone from another phone with MMS over Verizon.

I'm not trying to get it for free. It's actually part of my plan. The problem is that the phone isn't a verizon phone, so it doesnt have Verizon's default MMS settings on it. Because of that, I've been having issues both sending and receiving picture messages and have been trying to figure out how to get it working on the KX2....

OIC. DUH!

Didn't you mention that you had a friend who has a Verizon KX2 with MMS? Weren't you able to access their phone using QPST?

I forget your scenario.

Anyway, isn't this somehting that Verizon tech support should fix?

Enlighten me.

My brain is on vacation right now......
