(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

are there any midi editing programs to make
the midis louder??

Posted by: Schizoidman21

no, it depends on the device reading the midi format.

thanks for the reply.
that is one of the downsides then of midi vs mp3.
I can adjust, add effects etc to the mps.
the upside is that midi are usually on tenth the size
of mp3

gonna do a Google search for a midi editing program.
I'll post if i "get lucky"

YES!

I just got it. Now to try and figure it out!

thanks

you ever figure out how to make a song louder with anvil?

Posted by: JohnDaddyo

no, not yet
too bad the program didn't also convert to mp3 or wav??
then you could adjust the volume and send it back to a midi

Is there anything that will amplify the volume on MIDI files????

I have used Anvil Studio, JazzWare, MIDI Maestro, and maybe 3 others with no luck. If anyone finds out how to do this please let us know.

Audacity is NOT compatible with MIDI files. Nor is SoundForge or GoldWave.

Is there not a program that exists that can amplify the volume of MIDI files???????? :hurt:

I have most definatly edited midi's with Audacity, at least edited things like length, volume, stereo/mono, etc etc. I generally work with mp3's ripped from cd's but I know that I have imported some midi's that I downloaded from the web and edited them as well. I usually have to export the file as an mp3, then rename it to mid, but it seems to work fine, at least on my computer and my phone. (LG VX4500)

If you "most definately" edited MIDI's, why don't you explain the exact process. If you try to import a file, and it is a true MIDI file, Audacity will state that it DOES NOT recognize that type of file, so just how did you edit them???

I am thinking Schizoidman may be right!

I have tried Anvil Studio and MidiFixer to make the volume louder for my MIDI ringtones, but it all sounds the same to me. When I put them onto my LG 4700, the volume is too low to be useful as a ringtone.

I remember back in the day when I had my Nextel i95cl, I was able to get them loud enough using Anvil Studio. And I am using some of the exact same MIDIs that I had on the i95, but they're not loud enough on the LG 4700, so it must depend on the device.

You can try MidiTurner , which simply designed for turning midi volumes.
And most importantly, it's free software .
You can download it at henryzhou.freezope.org

This is from a post I placed earlier in another thread but it should work just as well on MIDI files as on MP3 files (you might have to save the file as an MP3, however, and even though you can cut the song to any length, the file size may still be larger than you want, but you can make the volume as loud as you care to) and it is very easy to use. Hope it helps.

As for trimming down the size of the mp3 files and adjusting the volume so they will be loud enough to work well as ringtones I downloaded a free program called

Mp3MyMp3

Once installed it will record anything on your computer. "If you can hear it you can record it" is their slogan. You can start playing something on winamp, or whatever player you use, and record any song or piece of a song by just pressing record and stop on the recorder. You can also adjust the volume of the recording. You can save the recorded music as either a WAV or an MP3 file to any folder you want and then use Josh's application to transfer that file to your phone as a ringtone.

Hope this helps
