Has anyone bought a QD through T-Mobile? Is the firmware or phone branded?

hey everyone - ive been waiting patiently on the pre-order list for a $99 ngage qd at ebgames but it doesnt look like theyll be getting it in anytime soon...

now im seriously considering getting one through tmobile ($120 with a one year contract extension)

the problem is i dont want any tmobile software on it and i dont want the unit to be locked (and i definitely do not want a tmobile branding on the unit itself)

im pretty sure it doesnt come branded with a tmobile decal on it but im not too sure about the software or the sim-lock issue

has anyone actually purchased their qd through t-mobile? does it have branded firmware? is the unit sim-locked?

any help would be great - thanks all!

i doubt it has t-mo fw...since QD has 850, and 850 is a big no-no with tmo

The QD from T-Mobile has 850/1900 both open. I would say T-Mo has some of their settings in it, and it appeared to be locked to T-Mo. That was easily remedied though with a DCT calculator which unlocked the phone for me.

T-mobile's internet settings were programmed into the phone at purchase, letting me believe that the firmware is indeed t-mobile's.

wow...never knew tmo has a 850 phone that has their fw..i m suprised

cell phone network scan for me shows....
T-mobile (1900 mhz)
USA 030 (850 mhz only owned by Centennial Communications)
AT&T wireless ( 1900 mhz now owned by Cingular)

I believe there are a couple of newer phones that have 850 available. I haven't been an employee for a while, so i am not up to the latest phone infomation they have.
