I'm thinking of getting my firmware updated at bongo. they have the 6230b firmware listed at 4.43, and the 6230 listed at 5.35. They have assured me over the phone that they have the latest for both... but if i flash my 6230b w/4.43(RH-28) to the 6230, 5.35 (RH-12) will i lose signal strength on 850mhz? if anyone knows any other issues or if you know that this is ok please let me know....

Thanks

I've wondered about this too! This is a good question for treatz. If anyone would know I think he might.
But from what I've read and heard 5.35 is working ok for most people.

5.35 is available for both 6230 (RH-12) and 6230b (RH-28). Your bands will stay the same and you will not lose any reception.

Thanks Even

Now... does anyone know if bongo has version 5.35 for RH-28? they only have RH-12 listed at 5.35

I am sure they do. Maybe they just have not updated the site yet... it takes a lot of work to keep up with every firmware release.

Just give them a call and check

I got v5.35 (RH-28) on my 6230b last month here in LA/OC at Virtual Dynamix. I highly recommend their service and the upgrade.

The phone is overall faster, softkey functions are improved, I have less issues with the web browser and no more Cingular branding. I wrote a detailed review after getting it flashed. You can probably search for it if you need.

In fact, the Phoenix package for the 6230 contains a common core firmware that works on both RH12 and RH28 phones, with the bands determined by the phones themselves and reporting correctly when you query the firmware version - so if it's available for the 6230 it's available for the 6230b and vice-versa.

I recently upgraded to the newer firmware and am no longer able to authenticate GPRS for web access.

Doug, I think we spoke the other day. Just send the phone to me and I guarantee it will work again

Probably something simple!

Just an update. Finally got a level 3 tech from Cingular to call me back and he told me there was a "glitch" on my account and that was the reason for the GPRS authentication error! All is good
