I just got a V802SE and it was flashed/flex to the Z800 firmware and when i put in my NY T-Mobile SIM card in on the top it would either say T-Mobile, Searching, or No Access To Network. when it says T-Mobile i cant make or recieve calls. my network settings are Automatic Search and set at GSM only.. can anybody help me?

thanks in advance

How old is your sim card? I am in NY and I have the 802se flashed to the z800 firmware. When I upgraded to a t616, the sim couldnt be read until I upgraded the sim card. Also note that the sim card i had was voicestream at the time.

But I would go to a tmobile store, see if one of their sim cards work in your phone and if that is a no, then you may need to reflash your phone again. And if the store sim works and they can dial out, then I guess you have your answer there. Oh and there is a charge for the sim card ($20) I think. Good luck!

Hi-

I have the same phone and it worked fine with T-Mobile for me (I've only been on TMo for about a year, so it's a relatively new SIM card). I've also gotten it to work with iSync on my Mac, although even though I can access the web and email on the phone I can't get it to work as a BlueTooth modem yet.

My guess is that it's the SIM card...

my TMo sim card is new.. it was about 6 months old at that time.. wouldnt work but only at some times.. but i sent it back and got a refund.. got a K750i in HK.. hope it works when i get back to the States..

Well, the V800/Z800i should actually display : TMO and not T-Mobile, or other abrev.

But then again, it also depends WHERE you are located and HOW they programed their equipment in your area.

At least when in FL and some other states, it only shows TMO with the same SIM that would show T-Mobile in any other SE phone incl. P910i !

My phone reads NO NETWORK MOST of the time.... I had it reflashed to z800 but i still get network and then all of a sudden NO NETWORK....do you think its the sim card?

I am in Canada USING FIDO SERVICE

I have a V800 flashed to Z800 and it says T-Mobile. I haven't had any problems with the phone. It functions perfectly fine. I did just upgrade my SIM card a few months ago. I was still using the original voicestream card from five years ago. My Nokia 7610 was too much for it.

I'm currently a user of T-Mobile and have the cheapo Motorola V180. I enjoy T-Mobile's T-Zones and utilize the white pages, yellow pages, mapquest, news & weather alerts, and especially the integrated AOL Instant Messenger.

My First question is...what is the difference between a Z800i, and a V800 flashed to Z800i? Just appearance?

Second question is, will I lose any of the services I use on my current cheapo V180 with the Z800i/V800? I don't suppose "video calls" are of any use, as I assume they are a 3G feature.

Thanks again!
Daniel

One more thing: The signal in my town is "good"...not GREAT, but good. Would I notice any difference?

i think that different versions of sim cards will display different alpha tags.

The T-zones will work the exactly the same. I did notice that I drop fewer calls when going over the bridge from Philadelphia to NJ. With the Z800 upgrade you get a whole slew of ringtones, themes and different icons. I did notice that some of the menus were organized differently after the upgrade. I'm completely happy with the Z800 firmware.

Well in the past threads, a v802se is essentially the same as a v800. The v802se is the vodaphone model from hong kong (im guessing) and the vodaphone models do not all play mp3s. That is why people like me flashed their phones to z800i. Another plus is that the old vodaphone stuff like icons and the like are now erased. The only vodaphone branding left is on the phone physically itself, which can be changed by changing the housing if one chooses to. I think there are more and better reasons to flash the phone, but those were my reasons. Good luck!

Hi folks. NEW HERE so forgive any amateur transgressions. I have a MOTOROLA V180, with sim card, and a Mac OSX computer. I'd like to backup my SIM card (NB my numbers are only saved to SIM and not to phone). How do I back up the sim card? I tried iSync (not the brand new one, --not on OS10.4 yet) and i'm not sure if it worked. I doesn't show a list of numbers backed up. Anyone ever try to do this? Please send a note to sharpienyc@aol.com if you can...

the cheapest and easiest way wud be to get the external sim card reader, avail on ebay for around 10-15 bux. some are standalone units which require 2 sims and some are USB units in which u can go rite to the comp. do ur research and figure out what u want.
another way wud be to get some sort of mobile phone software off the internet, download.com has some i don't remember the name of the good one but it's on the only one rate 5 stars outta 5 stars.
other than that, writing down all ur numbers also works. lol

My good friend uses a v802se but I'm pretty sure she did not flash it to the z800i. She is also on Fido and everything seems to work fine. Her sim card is relatively new, about a year and a half.

Maybe your sim is old or maybe trying reflashing?
I plan on switching my k750c to a v802se/z800i but not sure yet, still reading about signal and card reading.

btw, Niagara represent.

Hi guys

My brother recently bought a vodaphone V802SE and so far the camera works great. Then we did a master reset and now we noticed that the camera is so slow both on video and picture mode. I'm not sure if the software or rom has been downgraded because of the master reset.

Now when searching on some forums we have found out that the phone can be upgraded to Z800i. I like to know where can I get the software to upgrade the phone and possibly a step by step instructions to help me. What equipments will I need aside from a PC and data cable?

Thanks
Chris
