Any Way Around 6620+BT250 Headset "Always Open" or "Always On"?

I'm so sorry to be asking this if it is already asked and answered, but I couldn't find it anywhere, and I can't even figure out an effective way to search on it without turning up dozens of unrelated posts.

Just picked up the Nokia 6620..happily used it to connect to the 'net with my iBook via bluetooth... couldn't get my Jabra FreeSpeak BT200 to work..now we all know why...so just tonight picked up a BT250... only to find that when the darn thing is paired it stays on *all the time*. As in, the 'channel' (for lack of a better work) is *always* open..which means I can't even use my phone for other bluetooth apps without actually *turning the headset all the way off*, because the 6620 apparently only wants one BT connection at a time (my SE T616 had no problem with keeping my iBook connected to the net, and taking an incoming call, on my BT200..but darned...it's not Edge, which the 6620 is).

Am I doomed? Do I have to return the 250 and get some other headset? Is there *any*way around this? I'd rather not return the 250 if at all possibe.

Thank you!

Anne

This is a function of the handsfree profile that Nokia and others use. This is why the BT200 wouldn't work. (BTW you can probably send it in to jabra and get it upgraded for free).

The reason you didn't have this problem with you SE T616 is because SE uses the Headset profile. The Headset profile only connects when there is an active voice conversation. On the other hand the Handsfree profile is always connected and all audio is transfered to the headset, not just audio from a call.

So getting another headset would not solve your problem. Without turning off your headset you can quickly turn off and turn on the BT in your phone. This will break the connection to the headset. You can also select the headset in your phone and choose disconnect. This way when you do want to start using the headset again just press the talk button on the headset and the two will reconnect.
