using a bluetooth dongle can i then access my Cable modem and dsl lines from my cell and not incur data charges?

No, but your can connect to ActiveSync and use internet passthrough. If you want to go wireless, then do BT ActiveSync connection.

Just make sure in Data Connections on your phone that you have everything to Automatic, or when you do the ActiveSync connection change Internet Connection: Passthru Connection

You can use your passthrough with your blue tooth active sync, but I have yet to figure out how to do it. I just figured out how to use bluetooth activesync for syncing. Hopefully somebody else can help you with passthrough

omega can you expand on exactly wut i do, cus i dont have a dongle yet but might buy one if i can understand how to get it to work.. i assume the BT activesync is the same as teh wired jsut thru the dongle, and then what i do from there?

In ActiveSync on your computer, hit Tools, Options, and on one of those tabs you should see a check box with "allow internet passthru when ActiveSync is connected" or something to that extent. I am running the beta version of ActiveSync 4.0 so its a little diffrent on my end.

Have fun getting BT ActiveSync to work. I explained how to do it in my blog with the Widcomm drivers. Its hard and is a pain to get to work but once you do its really nice to have.

i went into A-S and i saw that option its already checked and what not.. So this will not incur data charges? ie if i use AIM on my phone and let it sit online and chat with it instead of the comp? while im in the house that is near the dongle...

If you are using internet passthrough via the ActiveSync connection you will not eccur data charges. If you have passthrough set up correctly, you will NOT see the the "G" that apears over the signal bars when your use a program that access the Internet.

Yes you may have it set up on the ActiveSync (computer version) end but then when you install the Widcomm drivers and install the BT Serial Port service, you have to make sure that it has a low COM number in Device Manager on your computer. Not only that but in ActiveSync on your computer you need to make sure that the COM port number you have for you BT Serial port is the same under, File, Connection Settings: Allow infrared or Seral port connections checked and the COM number of the BT Serial port selected in the drop down box. Read my blog on this subject.
