Are you really that retarded you cant figure out how to make an mp3 ringtone? It's practically common sense. You don't need audacity- all you need is cooledit and dBpoweramp. Or you can get one from here
http://fileservice.ca/fs/usr/SliderRingtones//index.htm
People are so stupid these days...

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

first off polaris, making ringtones is not an easy thing and it took me a while to understand how audacity works properly. and yes, you can use those two programs or you can use audacity by itself. it's what ozien and realgt used and that's why I use it as well. I don't feel the need to use multiple programs. not only that, audacity has many more uses beyond ringtones which has come in handy.

second, how do you make and keep friends? seriously? the people on this forum respect each other and answer their questions. I've only seen you start fights. was there really a need to try and peddle your mp3 site? no. was there a need to call him stupid and retarded? no. you need to stop that sh*t and stop acting like an a$shole.

First off, just because it took you a while to figure out how to make MP3 ringtones does not mean its difficult to do. I got it on the first try after reading the limitations- from there I just experimented. He is obviously somewhat stupid if he cannot figure out how to make an MP3 ringtone when there are dozens and dozens of posts on that issue already in this forum.

Secondly, my disrepsect spurs only from his inability/laziness to press the search in the forum and experiment with audacity, cooledit, soundforge or some other audio-editing software. I don't understand some people- for me at least, if someone won't tell me how to do something, I'll experiment and try to figure it out myself.

Thirdly, how am I peddling my MP3 ringtone site? Think about this for two seconds- what do I have to earn by putting free ringtones online for all to download? Nothing at all, you jerkoff. So don't tell me I'm peddling when I have only the best interests of the browsers of this forum in mind. Get off your power trip- you're not an admin and you have no more seniority in this forum than anyone else regardless of how many posts you have.

no matter how good you are at something, someone is always much better and others out there still can't figure it out. there's tons of things you can read about but still have trouble doing. that's a given. so if someone like sliderdude who surfs the forums a lot has trouble, then hell, why not help him out? is he some noob who posted 3-4 times then asked? no. he's been on for quite some time. if he needs help then it shouldn't be such a bothersome thing to help him out. flaming is for noobs, not for people who genuinely need help. and I had trouble after reading audacities entire help file and reading numberous threads. realgt pointed out how certain things had to be done and which way.

"if someone won't tell me how to do something, I'll experiment and try to figure it out myself" and then what? what if you still don't understand? if you asked for help after trying, would you really want someone telling you nothing and instead calling you a retard? that's exactly what you did. that's like me telling you you're an idiot for not understanding flashing antenna's when obviously a quick google search would give you an answer. I didn't do that did I? I told you how to works. that's all you have to do in the future.

and yes, you are peddling your mp3 site. you want people to give you Oo's and ahh's. ever heard the line give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach the man to fish and he eats forever? you don't just say here, use the ones I've made and don't worry about figuring it out yourself; instead, just stick to my limitations. instead, wouldn't "here, check out my mp3's I've made. this is how i made them" be much better? it's that simple. help a guy out. and i've been chatting on these forums since NOV of 2004. that gives me 5 months of reading the same posts, answering the same questions and learning more god damned information that you have. spend another 5 months here and tell me you don't understand more than someone who's been on these forums for a month and a half. seniority means you have more knowledge and experience, it means I've read more posts, answered more questions and learned much more which last time I checked, counts for a lot more in the real world than technical knowledge. don't think this is true? if you were a manager at a research lab and had to hire someone. would you hire someone fresh out of college or someone who's been working at a lab for the last 10 years? knowledge only takes you so far, experience is what really puts you above the norm.

In sliders diffence not I one of the threads on audacity say you should export as an mp3 they all say save. So I can see where anyone can get confused on that. Those of us who do know what we are doing sometime forget that the people we write are tutorials don't know what we are talking about and leave the small stuff that makes all the differance out.

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

usually i do understand all of the concepts of a cell phone, but I just didn't think about that export as MP3 button.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

yes, it's the little things that make a difference. if you check my tutorial, it says

Quote:
once you have a nice amount of music, export as an MP3 somewhere on your computer using the file menu

Posted by: Kealvan

Sorry koreanguy I never read your thread I already knew how to do it from the other threads on hear about it. My bad

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

I almost fried my phoen with one of my home-made MP3's. It was only 35 sec. long and i followed Koreanguy's directions to the T and for some reason it was a huge file. MY memory was at 63% it went up to 99%. What gives...i took a file off of my Audiovox 8910 and it was 55KB and when i transfered it to the right format for the slider it became 300KB All i changed was the project rate to 16000 and it became huge! That Audiovox file wasn't the one that almost killed my phone, but it is takeing up from 63% to 83%...how can i compress these files so they don't eat up my memory like that.

Posted by: thatkoreanguy

hmm...that's the method I've been useing for the longest time and I haven't had a problem. I know there has to be another way to compress the files so that they're smaller, but I've been trying to figure it out and haven't found out how. I think my files may be bigger because I don't just take one of the stereo tracks and mono that, but instead I take both stereo tracks, mono both, then remix them together. I guess if it's taking up too much memory, you could always delete it but sorry dude, I don't know how to compress it better. have you tried dropping the sound file directly into your slider? delete the one on your slider using bitpim and try dropping the one from your old phone into the slider and see if it works.

and it's cool kealvan, it's good to see my how-to fits to your standards

Posted by: Kealvan

well I never had that happen but if I had to guess you have to change the setting for the rate in the settings across the top and note in the drop down menu when you edit it. So it sets the rate when you export the file to 16000. If you change it in the drop down menu on the edit box it will only change it tight there where you are editing it and convert it to whatever rate you have set in the settings when you export it. I am probably just confusing you more because I don't have the prog. in front of me to explain any better than this so I hope this is enugh for you to dig into it and figure out what I am trying to explain. Also check your bit rate 24bit is all you realy need however I have seen 64bit work as well with little increase. I think it just depends on the quality of the song you start with.

It won't save as a 24...once i open the file again, it goes back to what it was before

hey sliderdude in audacity go to preferences, file formats, then in that tab under mp3 export setup click the drag down box and scroll up to 24 bit. now everytime you save the mp3 for your slider, it is saved as a 24 bit file instead of going back to 128.
