somehow i managed to make the word "Tajd" appear as the first entry in t9 when i type 8253. not sure how this happened. but this means that each time i want to type the word "take" i get "Tajd" instead and have to manually select "take" from the list. is there a way that i can edit my custom t9 word list and remove "Tajd" from it? thanks!!

when you type the key combination for a word and it presents you with a word you don't want, press the up and down keys that surround the blue button to scroll thru the available words.

i know, but everytime i write the word "take" it sure is a pain in the butt to always have to scroll around the word "tajd"

Unfortunately, that won't work for a copule of reasons. 1) He's got a SMT5600---there is no blue button. 2) Even on the MPx220, however, this doesn't erase a word.

OP: There was indeed a program floating around the forums that could be used to edit the T9 dictionary on handsets. Unfortunately, the newer versions of T9 have a dictionary format that is incompatible with the program that could do the edits.

I've searched many times to find a replacement. What I've located is a lot of threads that essentially state that the format for the newer T9 dictionary is still unknown, and thus, there are no programs to do the editing. I haven't seen anyone reverse-engineer the dictionary format yet.

I'm sure something will come out eventually. If you have a way of backing up your phone (using Sprint, for example), you could try deleting the dictionary files. If T9 re-creates them, it would let you start from scratch. (Of course, you would lose all of your words.) The files, if I'm not mistaken, are in \Storage\Application Data\ on the handset. If you don't have a way of backing up your handset, I wouldn't try this.

Sorry I couldn't give you a solution. I had a similar problem awhile back. I ended up replacing my handset, at which point I installed everything from scratch. Since it was a new handset, I didn't have the prior dictionary.

oh well. looks like it will "take" more time to obtain a solutin. however, looking in the t9.ubd file on the phone did find "tajd" after i renamed it a .txt file. but there is too much hash in the file to resave it. but at least i can see the word i wanna get rid of
