Tri/Quad Band Phone? - Recommendations:

Hello,

I am looking for a new tri/quad band phone to replace my O2 XDA II PPC.

My requirements:
- Tri or Quad Band
- Nicely equipped camera (from good pictures to the best pictures you can get from a mobile phone)
- Reliable in terms of build quality and OS.
- Allows WMA / MP3 audio files to be used as ring tones.

Preferences:
- Prefer a device with more functionality than a regular phone. I hardly used the functions on my XDA II but it was nice to know they were there.
- A device that is actually easy to 'text' on. It was a chore to do on the XDA II, especially while in motion.
- Something thin, light, fits easily in ones pocket, and that is stylish. (Is this even possible for a PDA type phone?)
- Something exclusive. Maybe it’s just me but I sometimes get annoyed when I see everyone using the same phone as me... and then I feel like its time to upgrade.

- With all this in mind:
1) What is the best Phone only option?
2) What is the best Phone/PDA option?

I have no brand limitations. I am always willing to try new things.

Cheers,
Where's My Cell?

well, if you want a smartphone, you can look at the Nokia 6681 or wait for the N70. Those both have decent cams (the n70 having the better of the two). There is also the N90 but its HUGE.

For a non pda phone, you can look at the motorola V635, Mitsubishi M900, Sharp 902, Nec N840 (although no mp3 tones).

The problem is that thin and light don't go hand in hand with smartphone and/or good camera. Most of the good camera phones have CCD cameras and those tend to be larger than the more common CMOS cameras in other camera phones. There are a few exceptions, one being the Samsung D500, its a CMOS camera but takes nice pics and is a good size. The pics from the CMOS N840 are amazing but that phone doesn't have mp3 ringtones.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now

Think about the e680. It has all the abovementioned things, except the easy messaging. Its allmost impossible to do that with one hand.

except the e680 fails the nicely equipped camera part

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I thought I would clarify/add to my requirements.

Essential:

- A device that is 'cutting edge' and incorporates the latest technologies on the market as long as they are supported or will be supported in the near future in the USA. Cost is not a factor.

- Device allows the use of Either WMA (preferred) or MP3 ringtones.

I am willing to wait until early-mid June to purchase a handset as I won't be returning to the US until then.

How about the Nokia 8800/8801?

that phone is cutting edge as far as the design, it doesn't have the newest technology and the camera is only .5 megapixels. The screen is really nice though (a little small but the size to pixel ratio is high). Its a very nice looking phone and will draw lots of attention, but it won't have the features of others
