can anyone verify to me that Bitpim works fully with the Audiovox 8615 for virgin mobile Canada as the carrier ? I want to make sure before I go out and buy a new usb cable for it...

MY friends said that they tried using bitpim using a BellMobility audiovox and said that it did not work and since virgin phones run off there network I wondered if it where the same with virgin phones?

I have an Vox 8600 (similar to a 8615 I believe) with Manitoba Telephone System. I purchased the Verizon office kit (prolific cable, drivers & Quicklink Mobile Phone Addressbook software). The cable and drivers work well and I can use the Addressbook. I purchased the Verizon kit off of eBay for a good price.

I also tried it with BitPim 0.7.29 and it works great. All you can do with BitPim on this phone is access the files (this can be used to download midi ringtones to the phone, which I've done successfully). I used a guide to do this which I think is on the Audiovox web site (I can give you the exact url if you want).

Not sure if it will work with the 8615 though.

Be careful which cable you buy as some will fit the 8600, but won't work unless it is the prolific type (the Verizon mobile office kit has the correct cable). The first cable I bought wouldn't work because it wasn't a prolific cable.

Hope this helps.

I phoned up the people in audio vox. they said that my phone is similar to the other 8600 models. The only difference is the display of the phone.
I know where to get a data cable so that’s no problem. I will tell you how it works out.
I wont mind to see that link. maybe it can give me some pointers.
anyway thanks.
