Ok, I've been searching most of the day on how to mod my phone. I like my own MP3 ringtones and self-made wallpapers. I didn't want to flash it or change the firmware version... blah blah. And I don't have a TF/cardreader. So I thought, and it worked, about just overwriting current files.
Create your MP3 snippet (or just save as link on a walmart, itunes, etc). Then open BitPim, and filesystem > + > motorola > shared > audio.
Right click on the MP3 file that you no longer want and select overwrite. Point to the new MP3 and hit ok. Then go into your media and change the name.
This won't give you any more ringers, in terms of numbers... but you can switch out anytime the ringers that you have.
Never delete your 'old' ringers. Just overwrite them.
Same can be done with wallpaper. Make your wallpaper, and then overwrite a picture in the 'shared > picture' area. Then rename, find, and apply as wallpaper.
I hope this makes sense and I can't believe I didn't see this anywhere else online while searching today.
Again, you can't increase your ringer quantity... but, for example, I have 4 on my phone (2 preloaded and 2 Get It Now). So I can just overwrite those 4 with any new 4 anytime I want.
Hope this makes sense.

Ok, in playing some more... it seems you can't rename the tones:
'Chain Link.mp3' and 'Eclipse.mp3'. You can overwrite them, just not rename them.
