Just wondering.... how many people now in this forum have the GD 87 in hand? because mine is still on the plane from germany, and would like to know who has the phone already.... my s-100 is still selling at ebay... not looking good... oh well... that's what you pay hen you always want a hot phone right away....

No word yet from your source? Do you know if the units they are getting are actually GD87s from Japan or GD88s? Seems the unbranded ones from ebay are all GD88s from HK....

He prefers it unbranded and doesn't like the look of the Voda logo. I can relate, I'm very picky with certain things... Fortunately I don't mind the logo (to me, the red adds a touch of color) and I'd rather it say Vodafone (which can be mistaken for the model name rather than service provider) than say At&t...

Besides we already have our own schpeel when people ask what Vodafone means

I don't mind with the logo and start up/shut down screen.

I opened the phone in my office today and caught all the attention. Everybody was impressed about the phone with color screen+polyphonic+camera. Except a guy who was jealous at me and said he liked my S100 better..hehe

i was getting the gd88 but then that seller screw up the price in the first place

he said it's 700 for gd88 and 87 when i contact him first

but then he said gd88 is 999USD

well i guess he screwed up on the price.........................

the only diferent is that gd88 have 2 battery and some other extra things in the package to boost the price up

Yeah, I saw the buy-it-now option WAS 699... but it's now 799....

Wait a few weeks, it'll drop down again... on a side note... I wonder if the gd88 will have less memory available due to the Chinese character support as it was with the t68i & t68ie...

I'm almost sure that this will be the case. The hardware is identical for both models, so I would expect that the 16-bit character set in the GD88 will use up quite a bit more memory than the Latin 8-bit set.

Buying a GD-87 with the Vodafone logo on it will save tons of money

I got mine, brand new in the box, for only $490 USD shipped from Germany!

Compared to the unbranded $799 USD ones on eBay, I can definitely live with the Vodafone logo

You got a great deal. Just think of all those 7210 owners who spent 599 on *that* lesser-phone....

Definitely a great phone for the price you paid.. I don't even regret paying full price for mine... except for a few gripes, I love it. I'll probably even pick up an OEM in a few months when the price is more reasonable

You can mute the ringer for that specific call by holding down the external button for a few seconds...

You do have to press END. It does not terminate the call when you close the lid...

adjust the volume using the cursor keys inside the flip. Closing the flip in a call activates the speakerphone mode. Unless your PHF device supports the button and the special connector for that function, you must open the flip to answer or terminate the call. AS I have stated before, call Pana customer service and complain. Maybe they will make a rolling change. It probably will not help you, but it may help others or be incorporated into the next handset.

He stated that he was not sure...So take it easy! I have heard of these shops but I do know that 100% of the available handsets are being shipped to distributed to retailers in Europe. If they have connections, then maybe. It will probably be cheaper on the Web, also there will be more retailers early next year outside of Europe. It may be cheaper to buy it online than in Japan though. I have found that to be true with other Japanese electronics when I have been to Japan!

I am already looking forward to getting my hands on the next Pana mobile, going to be interesting to see how they top this one as opposed to fixing a couple of irritating things and adding a couple more features like Java and better animation handling

I've been dealing with so much incomepetence on Ebay. Everyone claims that they have an unbranded GD87/88, but then as soon as you pay them, they're like... "oh, I just realized it is branded, sorry". And then I'm stuck waiting three days to have my payment refunded. This has happened THREE times already. Uggh!

yeah but i wanted the ready ones... because the normal res of the pic is not stretched vertically like pana's screen... so i got whole bunch of the 128x128... but they come out a little funny looking... so i wonder if there any site with the ready ones that look ok... by the way that resolution is is for the wallpaper size or the screen size, because when i played with the phone yesterday i figured that the wallpaper does not occupy the whole screen, so the menu and other status buttons that are on the bottom are not on the walpaler... it ends somewhere there... so can someone advise on that... thanx...

yup. thats what i did... i took the 7210 background sized 128x128 and made it 132x176... so thats what i am talking about... i need a web site where they got those pics adjusted, so i don't have to do it.... do you know any???

how, can you be not ready for this magnificent piece of hardware... even if you used nok1610 to this day...

i know i am ready... but now i got this suddent urge to get v70, for some reason... may be i'll sell one of my t68s and get that moto... but on the other hand... with the thing being single band i am probably not ready

so now i am thinking what else is out there .... but i am desperate to get the Telit G80 phone (even though many of you say its the ugliest phone ever.....).... well i know for sure that i will keep using my t68i and now i am joining the GD club approx wednsday....

The German mobile phone shop called Meisl has them. They are very reputable as well, so it's a good place to purchase them. They only have Vodafone branded GD87's, and they are listed at 554.40 EUR + shipping.

I just got it for $471 on an EBay website - I've actually been noticing quite a few sold at bids of around $460, I think bidding is often a better bet than the 'buy it now' options that are all around $540.
Anyway, for some help... I need to test that the phone is SIM-unlocked - can anyone recommend a cheap lowvalue SIM card for the purpose - I'm actually taking the phone out of the country with me in a couple of days, so I don't need minutes here - I just need to test it.

Hmmm...I'm not sure whether the length of this thread shows a lot of GD87 owners or that GD87 owners like to chat

I supposed I'm in the "soon-to-be-an-owner" category...I ordered from Adam a couple weeks ago but he seems to be waiting on a new shipment.

I just hope they don't announce a successor or something while I'm waiting. :\

In the meantime I'm practicing my pic resizing in anticipation for wallpapers
