My T637 Data Cable

Hey guys , I'm sure this is a common question or problem rather but I am still unable to figure this out.
I've had the USB DCU-11 sitting around for a while and I'm trying to use it for the first time but it never recognizes my phone, just says nothing is detected.
Any reason as to why this is happening? I appreciate any help.

Turn your phone off, then connect the cable to your pc and connect it to your phone and then power it up, it should detect it, if it doesnt then try cleaning the buttom of your phone, if that doesnt happened then you got own3d and your cable probally dont work no more
