V398 is just a name given to the Monster Pack. This pack is built with 95R_A flash file of E398 and a V3 flex, hence, the combination is called V398. The phone that is in question is E398.

Yes the flashing procedure is same in E398, since this is a monster file you will only use the MultiFlash application of PST, which will install the firmware, flex and Java applications. Note: Do not perform a Master Clear/Reset after flashing your friends E398 as some issues have been reported.

This MP is very safe and Yes it will make E398 very fast when surfing thru the menus and also typing sms.

TF card is acessible even after flashing with the MP no issues reported. If any issues occur then you may format the TF card and then use it (Note backup any data in the TF before formatting it)
Settings>Phone Status>Storage>Select TF>Press Menu>Select Format.

Yeah the GIF has been changed. I dont know i havent tried the ver4......will try during the weekends. How about the Lite ver3 its stable...how much space does it provide in the initial install? Ver4 only has cosmetic changes like IM instead of AIM, Call Timer on by default, changed startup gif, new startup tone. Other wallpapers and sounds are the same.

Well, I havn't heard many complaints about LITE or many requests for an update. LITE already includes all Version 3 fixes, and most of the V4 fixes are cosmetic, only a couple are actually seems or file related. LITE has no startup, or media, etc. Plus it just makes it difficult to get a new release out now-a-days with my situation. However if this is something you would like, send me an email. If I get enough demand it will justify an update. However the current LITE seems to be working well for all using it.

I have one question about V4, too. On V3 full we both have AIM and MobileQQ installed. On V3 the only thing i could do is to remove the menu icons to get rid of them. But thats not all i want. I also want to remove the program files from these two programs because my provider doesnt host any of these mobile IM's.
Thwa are useless and i could use this memory for better things.

IS it possible to remove them on V4 before flashing it?

No video records in E398 and flashing to V4 wont give one either. Video recording can be had with some flex for i think v6xx something i dont remember but then you wont be able to access TF. neways wats the use of video recording when u can get a video camera.

now all of you gonna thank me for this... in regard to have smart key and voice recording together all of you say is impossible.. i have change my voice key to smart key after v398 flash... i was looking at the thread about key mapping and i figure what if i map my camera button to anyting else?? so i read on how to map my keys and found out that p2k menu editor 2.1 does this.. at 1st i jus wanted to map my camera key to joysstick fire... then i think what if i try to change it to voice key?? would it allows me to record as well as having smartkey?? so when u use p2k menu editor REMEMBER TO DO A BACKUP of 005b_0001 seem... then go to key mappin and choose the voice key... it says ther n/a but its actually already mapped to camera app... change that to voice key and u can now hold that button to record voice... but of course you sacrifice the camera quick button which i map to up button... so it is possible to hav the best of all functions on our V398 except video recording of course.. hope it helps!!! ^^ the least i could do to contribute for eye's effort for this wonderful flash....

I could not get you.........u mapped the camera key to be your UP key of joystick and then you had the smart key do voice recording. But i thought this you can do before as well without any editing. I just pressed and held the smart key and I had my voice recorded. I havent done any seem editing.

I'm using the V398 V4 pack, and seem to have a slight problem, the camera shuts down automatically after a minute or so.

well i thought jus letting u know what i found and hope its useful... wat i meant is i can map my camera key to voice record (p2k menu editor) and leave the smartkey as smartkey(change using seem edit frm voice key), and use the personalise menu to change up button to camera... but after a while i change the camera key from voice key to joys stick select since i dun use the voice record feature much anyway... i didnt know it was found by sum1 before...

Just received my e398 from HK yesterday (woo) and flashed the V4 MP overtop what was on it (it had f/w .96R, so I saved the newer java MP3 player first to try later) and have a few questions and a small buglet.

buglet: in the LightBlue skin (and maybe others) the home icons are placed center -- this causes the top icon to be cut off by the date. how can I adjust that skin so that the icons are placed lower-left corner like the stock Techno skin?

possible seem edit q's:

q1: how do you enable "auto-lock" of the keypad (ie, after 30 secs of inactivity it automatically does the MENU+* keystroke for you - if you have a Nokia you know what I mean)?

q2: how do you enable a key to light up the display so that you can check the time, when the keypad is in MENU+* lock? I have found the 1 and 9 keys allow "Emergency Call" which lights up the screen, but that covers the time. ooops. I wanna be able to smack a key and see what time it is in the dark.

q3: I have turned all keypad sounds off (0). however, when I move the joystick around on icons and stuff, I can hear a small 'pop' (not hugely POP, just a tiny pip sounding thing). Is this because the stock gain_table is set too high in this flash/flex? Does anyone have the default gain_table.bin file from a stock E398 that I could get? (PM me or link here)

Thanks eyesonly_d! When I pulled this thing out of the box yesterday I rapidly realized how much seem editing I'd have to do just to get it useable here in the US, not to mention it had UK English/Chinese. I said screw it and flashed the V4 MP instead and saved hours.

It's also a lot less laggy I've noticed, so that has to have been the in the flex this thing ships with...

I've just bought E398 and I have 59R flash/SE7138AXXU507C flex, which is pretty laggy. From what i've read, the best flash/flex made is eyesonly's V398. I want to ask you if it is possible to have problems updating to V398 and to end up with a dead phone? Also, is it possible to save a specific language and put it on the new flash ?

If u flash your phone correctly and gawd forbid ur computer does not shutdown or the usb connection does not go off *touches wood* then the V398 ver4 should be loaded in abt 6-7 minutes. But make sure that PST is working properly and Multifax says connected.

2. you gotta unlock and then relock the keypad
3. its a known e398 issue.. all of 'em do it so your phone is nothing different from the rest

MPT is working properly(i transfered some mp3'a and pictures), and also PST(i enabled java app loader).

Hey all, here's a fixed LightBlue.ski file for the V4 MP -- the analog clock is moved slightly more towards the bottom right corner, and the home icons are adjusted to just barely fit in between the operator/date text at the top and the analog clock (digital left alone, which is what I use).

The home icon spacing was taken from Techno.ski initially, nice tight grouping. Be sure to save your existing LightBlue.ski first, and set the attribute to 4 after uploading with p2kman.

Yes the camera button can also be configured, but I think 99% of us actually use the camera button for the camera all the time, so I didn't think making it customiable would be wise.

Rivvah = Whats the version number on the Mp3 player? If it is newer and you email it to me, then I can included the "newest" version in the next version and it can be shared for all the have. Also I'll backup DS on his answers to your questions. Also thanks for the new ski file, I'll check it out soon.

Andreip = In the 28 or so pages so far, I havn't gotten one dead phone complaint, or in my email, or in my PM. I think things are relatively safe if you take your time, know what you are doing, and do a good job. (Most of the dangerous stuff is actually taken on my shoulders testing and expermenting i the process of releasing it to everybody so I can stand behind it) Good luck.

I've just started modifying the stock Moto skin. So far all I've managed to do is change the analog clock to a funky one from the xp blue skin from motomodders. I have a question though. If you change the .ski file does that then affect some of the attributes for the dat files as well ?

Th reason I ask is I originally just uploaded the amended .ski folder but that made some of the icons in the main menu dissapear, uploading all the moto skin folders again fixed it.

Also a quick question with the "pop" sound on v3 and v4. Does this have something to do with the gain table file ? I didn't have this with my original 95r that came with the phone. Would uploading the original gain table file fix it ?

Speaking of MP3 player, if I play a song longer than 6 minutes or so the program crashes, is that normal? It's pretty slow and clunky in general (I know it's a phone, just wondering if mine is messed up or normal).

why dont you just make a playlist from the sounds menu instead? its a lot faster than the java player, and it doesnt use up the extra battery power the phone needs to run the java app

No need to buy yourself an i-pod shuffle either. Just create your playlist go into setup and set it to shuffle. The Java MP3 is the first thing I delete whenever I flash my phone.

I'm trying to customize 0061_0001 seem to display my own text buy i can't get it to work. It still displays T-Mobile, and in the Light Blue theme it shows nothing. Another thing I've noticed.. 0061_0001 seem on V4 mosterpack has different text or something like a/ mobile/system/cl.gif do i use different seem to get my own text on the phone?

Is anyone else having problems with it keeping a network connection? When I turn my phone on it will search, register, and then I have no bars. I can't call out or call into it. I have to manually make it connect but that connection only lasts 5-10 minutes before it loses network connection again down to zero bars. Its weird because my previous flash and flex had no problem with network connections, 5 bars all the time.

It's v.05.00.17 -- I uploaded it today and don't see anything different. Since it can't use the transflash card (or am I missing how to?) it's pretty useless to me it looks like... I'll email it over on Monday when I'm back at work where everything is, PM me if I forget.

as far as i know, MultiflashFlex makes the .hmg as it flashes. i think??

i just flashed to v4 last night, with exactly what is inside the zip you just downloaded. no troubles at all

turned on. it will turn off (into flash mode) as you run MFF.

if it's the first time you've flashed, use Neil's guide here

but don't check the 'master reset on flex'' or 'master clear on flex' buttons as in the guide, because you're not flexing seperately.

in short, load up MultiFlashFlex.exe, enable flash - browse to where you extracted v4, then start.

don't interrupt the process and pray to jeebus that you don't cop a power blackout.

now this is worse.. whenever i plug my e398, the pc hangs... i have to off/on the pc w/ the e398 already attached.. but the multiflex still cant find my phone

possible bug: my on-phone MP3 player crashes with "(X) System Error" whenever I load any 256kbps MP3s onto the transflash and play them. If I re-encode them to 192, it's just fine and plays normally. anyone else have this problem? You scroll to the mp3 in the playlist, hit play, and it starts to load then issues the error and throws you to the Home screen.

I have also found that it won't play the audio in 3GP videos (but will happily play the 15fps/128kbit video, just muted) that I make with "WB-AMR" (high quality audio); I had to re-encode them to use standard AMR instead. I think this is probably a limitation in hardware or the converter screws up the file (Quicktime complains out-of-spec audio or something...).

E398 don't play mp3 192kbps+.. it plays 3gp videos with AMR-NB..

Yeah which really sucks then -- for a phone touted as "3D Multimedia" and branded with all sorts of MTV junk (at least mine was coming out of hong kong), you would think they would support high bitrate MP3s and 3GPP audio better than 12.2kb/s. What a complete ripoff in marketing advertisement.

Although this phone is cool and all, the Nokia 6230 beats it hands down as a portable MP3 player now that I've had a chance to play with both. *sigh* But it's oh-so-more hacker friendly!

But for the price ( well how much I paid for it anyway ) there isn't a phone out there that is as good as the e398, besides at the time it was released there were limitations in media storage. Bring on the 20gig hard drive mobiles I say.

This is a red herring argument, stick to what we're talking about here. The device cannot play a 256kbit MP3 file, which is a *very* common file format for the discerning listener for various types of audio (but not all). There is nothing unusual or strange or far reaching about this format, it's a failure on the part of the E398 to support the target audience it is addressing with it's marketing material. My argument then infers that the N6230 is a better device because it can support this file format (as well as other things not gone into) without any problems.

The same holds true with the AMR-NB only (no WB-AMR) support in the 3GPP - have you *heard* 12.2kb/s audio in a heavy 3gpp file? It sounds like crap, there's nothing "rich and 3d" about any of this - my marilyn manson tainted love video (a great sample to crunch any supposed mobile video device, it's very complicated video and audio to compress correctly) sounds like poo.

I also had error while playing mp3 files. It's (X)System Error(X). Then it wouldn't recognize the flash card anymore. Attempt to format the flash card using the phone failed. Formatted it using Windows FAT format then the phone would recognize the flash card again. I thought it was because of the bitrate so I converted it down to 96kbps. Still no hope. The file's played for 1 second then BOOM .... (X)System Error(X).

I think it was becuz I forgot to remove the flash card when I flashed to V4. On my way to redo everything with the flash card remove. Hope it would help. Otherwise, I'll just stick with V3_R3.

Okey ... I had the included 64mb flash card and it worked fine w/ the phone. I, however, couldn't get my new 256mb card to work. It'd NOT a V4 bug. Sorrie guys. Something is wrong w/ my new 256mb flash card.

Talk about marketing hype. You've just spewed more in that one sentence than I have heard in a long time. If you really are a "discerning listener you wouldn't be using mp3 at all let alone a mobile phone for your music.

Once you've listened to audio through QUALITY audio gear your average "HiFi" equipment pales into insignificance.

In the June issue 2005 of APC they compared you'r beloved Nokia 6230 against the Motorola e398, Motorola e1000, Samsung D500 & Sony s700i. The e398 was awarded 3.5 stars ( More than all the rest ) and the Nokia 2.5 stars. The thing is they were comparing the mp3 capabilities of these phones.

Yes the video audio is kinda below average hell the screen is a bit too small as well. The e398 also doesn't have a video recorder or an fm radio built in either. But whenever you are going to invest your hard earned dollars on anything it is allways good to do your research before hand. If after your purchase you go "oh crap it's not what I wanted" then you only have yourself to blame.

The MP3 bit rate thing is not a bug. Its a hardware drawback, present in all the monster packs. The Manual says it too, it plays MP3's upto 192kbps bit rate, !28 is more than enough for the phone, you would'nt be able to differentiate between 128 and 256kbps even if the option was available on the E398. And suppose you could play 320kbps MP3's on your phone, would you actually do it? the present 4 MB songs would then be 12MB apprx, thats like 5 songs on a 64MB card, I think I'd still would have lowered the bitrate to 128

you're absolutely right. poeple keep forgetting that e398 is mainly a phone, it's main functions are sending and receiving calls/sms/mms

i believe that 128kbps is just right. that means 4 hours of music on a 256 MB card if you use it only for this purpose. if you want increased quality (which you will not notice on the earphones) feel free to use 192kbps, but then you will only have less music. that's not good for me, i receive aprox 1 Gb new tracks every day

You cant use a bt headset to listen to music on the motorola E398. You need a newer version of BT, which the present gen of Motorola phones do not use.

That's kinda the problem -- when you have a cache of MP3s sitting on your server, who wants to spend the time re-ripping?

This is basically why I've run into the problem...

The real question(s): is this a limitation in the flash/flex (which we could find a newer one that enables!), or a limitation in hardware? Is the DSP completely software based (from reading eyesonly_d 's recent SHX guide, it looks like maybe it is?) or is it some combination of hardware and software to get the job done. Or, is the limitation solely within the mp3-app?

guess the battery meter doesn't work in the home screen... after exhausting my phone for 30 mins playng MP3 with Vibe "ON", the battery indicator still displays "FULL"... it should somehow be reduced to around 2 bars...

Having a problem trying to flash V398 Monster pack on my phone. I am running MFFT V1.8. I keep getting this error message once I begin flashing:

PhoneFlash MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I've been following this thread I don't remember anyone having this problem.

I had flashed my e398 with the Mp ver4 Full Version the other day, then went about deleting the default pictures and ringtones.......Got locked out of the ring details...used PST to correct the situation with the Feature file thing. Now comes the best part when trying to make calls the get a message saying "Outgoing calls blocked" and i only have the option to press OK. Also if some1 else tries to call my number, the person gets "This number is busy" kindof msg. This also happened with the Version 1 of V398.

I didnt face this situation with 96R or 98R. Interesting!!!!

Temporary soln:::: flashed with the Lite version got 7.7MB space outta the flash.......so no issues.......but any inputs guys?

Somebody should try one on the latest flash versions, like 99R or 9AR (E398 version). It is possible that the newer flashes are now compatible with the larger TFLash's because if I recall correctly the 256MB version was only released recently.

Also the master clearing stuff now works for me, but its still not at the point where I can say it is safe to do it.

Also my battery meter works fine as far as I can tell.

I've read a handful of posts over on mobile-files that the newer flashes aren't quite compatible with the older flexes, mainly stuff to do with the vibe/ring/alarm combos. Haven't tried it myself, though...

PS: is there a way to look at a raw reflash file (ie .9AR_reflash.shx) and tell what language pack is in there?

If anyone has problems with outgoing calls being blocked. When flashing to V4.... Alll you need to do is to go into setup/security/restrictions & or setup/security/call barring. I've had that problem with other flashes, every time I flash it restricts outgoing and inbound calls. It's quite a simple fix and should only take a few seconds to rectify.

You may need to check the settings for sms messages as well, I had to put in the messaging number for my phone each time too.

So flash away, the V4 is great. V4 should work with a 256mb card. Works fine with mine and my card is full with 3 Simpsons episodes and 3 cd's of music.

i also had this problem. it's not from deleting the files and it's not from the v4 MP. it's from the PST feature file. when you load it to phone it will set your incoming and outgoing calls to "restricted". go to settings >>> security >>> restrict calls (the access code is 1234 for me) and set them to Allow: All

run dir2flex and write the path:

/a/mobile/skins/Techno/

or

/a/mobile/skins/Neon/

or other directory (match case) and then press the button "Create flex file for delete directory". name the flex so you know what it does, for example Delete_dir_Techno or Delete_dir_Neon, then apply it with pFLex from PST.

I've read somewhere that someone wanted to downgrade from 96r/97r/98r(i don't remeber exactly which one) to 95r(or 95r_a) and, because the bootloader was different, the downgrade failed. I currently have 59r. I don't know what bootloader i have and how to find this and if it is different from the monsterpack's bootloader. Is it possible to have this kind of problem when trying to update?

Infact downgrade works perfectly atever boot loader u got. If you choose the first option in Multiflexflash then i dont think there should be a prob to install say 95r frm 98r. I have installed v398 when my current flash was 98R.

Hi! I have installed this superb, excelent, magnific Eyesonly's Monster Pack, and I'm really glad I have done this... But... There is one thing I don't uderstand and I don't know how to fix it:
I have E398 hmmm... V398 ;P in Polish network ERA GSM, and my network lets me send SMSes with 160 signs inside... After I have flushed my phone, it splits messages to about 80 signs, I don't know exactly how much, but it's definately not 160... :/
Does anyone know where to set a number of signs per one part of SMS??

Maybe this hint will be helpful: I've noticed this kind of trouble not only on Eyesonly's Monster Pack, but also everytime I was playing with "V" flexes...

I'll appreciate any help...

Hrm, yes I bet it is probably a seem edit to control the number of allowed letters in an SMS. As far as I know I havn't seen it however. Also all the "V" flexes for the E398 are pretty much my fault, so it makes sense that you notice the same thing in all of them. I will keep a lookout for this edit and if I find something I will post here.

On a slightly risky note I left for a vacation shortly after flashing the lite version

had no trouble at all. Looking through the thread that has grown like a kid left overnight in a candy store, I noticed the ones regarding flashing/flexing and removing the transflash card (which I never did, I can be so lazy

) but in all the cases that I've flashed and/or flexed I encountered no problem having them in while the phone was being reprogrammed.

Also I noticed the post regarding the java mp3 players. I too have had problems when installing them on the phone. I couldn't really fix it (sending via bluetooth, psk tools or midway (even with the correct jad file) did not make the app 'see' the trans flash card) What I DID however roundabout it was is to install a useless java app, use p2k tools to copy over the useless one with the java player (I use my backup but I can guess it'd work for a new one, just reneme the file and replace the icon.png to the right one - you can extract the java contents with winrar)

Overall the performance of the phone is great (I use it for calls, text, mms and mp3 - not so big on videos but a few, uhum, adult feature flicks seemed to play pretty well

) Having a vacation in a place with only two electrical sockets and no other appliance than a ref I blessed the days I got my E398 and bless the name eyes for saving me from death by boredom at night when the only things you can hear are crickets and drunk snoring friends

hey, I don't see this in xlr8's map.txt -- I turned 850 off using 0025 0x00 bits. what does 0032 0x50 bit 0 toggle? I only see info for bit 7, MSG Alert stuff.

Tested it with the MP3 player working and MP3's at 128kbps,

Overall Readings: 33,32,34,31,30
Did it sometime ago, dont have the sprites, text etc..., would re-do it again if you want.

Just one thing: if i check "override existing phone software..." , the message doesn't appear(it appears "no devices were detected,that because i am trying without the phone connected); if i uncheck,it appears the "unknown super file" error

Could this be because i don't have all that 7 drivers mentioned in BrightSpark's Hacker Bible? I have only 3,but everything is working well,except MultiFlashFlex.

2) Any idea on how the good quality camera feature that is on 98R could be implemented on this new package? Or is there any way to reach the same 98R camera quality on this new v398 flash, because the actual quality is really poor if compared to 98R?

Ques 1............i really dont know coz this is the first time i heard it. This happens only with ring details..with wallpapers? :rolleyes2

Ques 2.......Infact on the contrary the camera quality is pretty good when compared with 98R...the 640x480 resolution pics are pretty good. try adjusting the light settings and also brightness. also see with the ambient light is enuff for a good pic. Everythings depends!!!!

checking "override existing phone software..." is a must, it appears on all flashing guides, read carefully. that's why nobody here has seen this message before, we all check that option before flashing...

Does anybody have a problem with their v3 v398 eyes only e398 going into emergency mode right after calls mine always tend to do that and when I put it on continuous it happens even more often keeping in mind that i get an average of about 3 bars on t mobile

no havent faced an issue with network always get on an average all the 5 bars. But the mobile has lost network a coule of times after which it restarted.

dunno mines weird after a calll it would go up to 4 bars then just go into emergency mode and wouldnt come back till about an hour later unless i restart the phone I guess i can solve it by puting the speed back to medium

Mine was medium last time but I changed it to fast, and with no problem. I did put it to fastest once and didn't noticed any changes though...
Until now I'm still using fast as the speed on network.

I guess you have to try to get the strongest signal area and see if this solved the problem before you look into your phone internal issue...

I was able to use the smartkey as voice dial and voice record key (press to get into voice dial and long press to get into voice record...)

But I had some problems with the ring style detail while i was playing with the seem files with p2kmenu editor and moto kit must have touched something kekeke!

Anyway Flashed again to start on a new sheet kekeke!

Problems i had was the videos starting to lag after a while.

SMS starts to lag alot when you type a long sms kekeke!

I'm getting this problem too. I'm always having emergency only. Its okay at first but then switches to emergency only mode until I power cycle the phone.

motomaverick -- where are these posts coming from? I've not had the Emergency Mode problem since I disabled 850 the other day, reply-post that to wherever you got these from. I haven't had a chance to go back to the exact place I was getting the error, but was close to it by a block or two without problem.

Also, the flash that came with my phone is already R372_G_0E.20.95R. I see that differs from this MP by the A behind 95R. Is it the same?

Slowpoke, 95 is the version my phone originaly came with.
95_A is not the same. 95_A is a huge improvement with menu speed, sms and video playback.
Those that are experiencing problems with the video playback are obviously not using the optimum settings when encoding video. Eye'sonly V4 Monster pack is awesome, it covers all bases and is a safe way to get into flashing your phone. ( Make sure you read and then re-read the Motorola Hackers Bible and also lneiln's guides first )

As for those that are having problems with their signal strength. Perhaps it's a good idea to take note of all your network settings prior to flashing their phone. A flash can change some of those settings and in an area where signal strength is sometimes an issue ( Thank goodness I live in Australia ) it may muck ur phone up. ie: all my incoming and outgoing calls were blocked after the flash and I had to go in to settings/ to unblock them.

I just flashed my E398 with the V4 version, and I have found that my bluetooth is no longer working. And the MP3 player starts, but gets stuck when first starting up. Like it is looking for files. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No longer working? sounds pretty weird coz mine works perfect. Have u turn it on under Bluetooth Power option? MP3 player as for the java player or E398 original MP3 player? if you meant the java MP3 player, yes it will stuck for a while because it's looking for mp3 files within the phone and the T-Flash card.

Small followup from some PMs - setting [0032 0x50 bit0] controls whether or not the 850Mhz band is actually used, in addition to the other well known 0025 bit flipping. Since editing 0025 to disable 850 and turning this 0032 0x50 bit off I haven't been having any more Emergency Only problems connecting to T-Mo out here in SF - I on purpose went to the problem areas found and checked real quick.

The phone also attaches to the tower(s) a *lot* faster, it's almost instantaneous instead of the really long delay I was getting (ie, walk into an underground garage, lose signal, walk out and the time it takes for the phone to reassociate). good results all around.

I figured out the problem with the MP3 player. When I tested it, I started it and it cached my files. Then because the flash backup can't tell the difference when it is reflashed to everyones phones. When the mp3 player restarts it loads the cache index files from before and then doesn't find the files and gets messed up. The next version has a fix for this. Not sure when I'll put it out yet.

I forgot to mention I am using my V398 with my Mac. I was able to sync using bluetooth before I flashed. After I flashed it won't sync. However, my Mac will access the V398's data folders just fine using bluetooth. The MP3 player is a minor issue since I wasn't able to make it work before anyway, and the phone will play MP3's as a sound file anyway. I hope I can get the bluetooth working correctly again though.

Vibe AND Ring is not availible on any E398 phone. You can enable the option for it through seems, but it does not actually work on the phone.

Chinese is availile by flashing the 0015 or 0016 language packs onto the phone.

I am going to work on V398 stuff today, add the mp3 fix, take out 850Mhz (causeing more problems then good), and get it back to english by default. Any other major problems? I really only want to fix bugs for V5 and not add any features.

yes, that's what i meant - vibe THEN ring. sorry about that. I know it's not possible for e398 to vibe AND ring at the same time because of the vibe type - it's caused by the speakers (low frequency acoustic vibration), and not by a DC motor like on Nokias for example. thanks eyesonly

When the mobile is charging and if you play any music, theres a bit of jarring from the speakers, no idea what you can do for it though, and if the camera is switched on for more than 2 mins, it automatically shuts off, any idea why? Other than these two, mintue probs, I think the pack is just perfect. One request

, can you enable Delivery report as std, it aint a big thing really even if its not done.

I am still searching for the camera timeout seem edit. Hopefully I will discover it soon. If anybody wants to help by looking at a flex with the timeout longer, and the current V398 seem and then changing the different bits to narrrow it down, it would be a big help to me and appriciated by all.

The only way I will put in delivery reports is if you can do it by a menu option that the user can turn off and on without seem editing. I thought I saw this functionality on some random firmware I used a long time back, but I forgot what it was.

in fact, delivery reports is a choice when you will send a sms... so it can be set as default for v398.

I can make out going. Also when I check my Call Waiting Status, it says it couldn't request.

Any idea what's up with that?

goto menu then settings => security => restrict calls => Incoming Calls then choose Allow:All

There was no "restrict calls" but I'm assuming you mean "Call Barring"

Also when I check Call Waiting Status it says "Not Availible" aswell.

Could this possibly be a carrier problem?

i have the v398 version 4 i think monsterpack on my phone but i can't set the clock could someone tell me how?? it isn't in the, menu -> setup -> inital setup -> time & date then it says "auto update" thats menu there.

Hi guys, i've flashes my phone with v398 v4. My phone is unlaggy now, this MP is great! But i've found an issue.. i've instaled some skins, and then deleted some, but the folders is still in the phone..before flashing, i've installed and deleted skins with success. What should i do to remove these empty folders from my phone?

Playing MP3's from the sounds menu.

My original Firmware 96R_A with a GSKE something combo had a longer timeout. Also when playing/using Java if I recieved an incoming sms the java app would auto minimise, this does'nt happen with the V398 pack or for that matter of fact any of the other combo i've tried, 95R_A monster pack, 98-GIFE etc... The camera timeout was longer too, will try to get my hands on the 96R_A monster pack and pass it on to you.

i can guess you send those sms in Polish right? OK, the reason is ONLY in your network provider/SIM card, it's not the phone. It's the same way here in Bulgaria with one of the providers - the phone lets me send only 100 signs when i'm typing a message in Bulgarian (Cyrillic alphabet), but when i'm typing with English letters it's fine (160/450 signs). I guess this is something like the non-english or diffferent characters need to be encoded somehow, so they need more space/memory which is taken out of those 160 signs allowed. and it's not only E398 but all the phones here are working that way. anyway, this thing is not everywhere in the world it probably depends on the provider's equipment/network. hope this helps.
