Secret codes & games?

I have looked through the modding section a bunch but there is just so much stuff. I have the Sony ericsson z500a.
I can't figure out why searching for that model doesn't work.
I read about these codes to a certain menu and stuff like that. how do you get these codes and how do you actually use them(where do you go to put them in and all)
Sorry this is a newbie question but i was curious, cause the older phones had a phone number you typed in and called.
Also i was curious if anyone downloaded games to their phones from cingular. I got two games but aren't too happy with them, they aren't too much fun. I was thinking of getting something like Splinter cell or something. Does anyone have any recommendations?
