Firmware

How do I check to see what firmware I have on my Treo 650? Where to I go for updates? When you update the firmware, do you lose all your data and settings (basically do you have to reinstall everything).

I appreciate any responses in advance. I know that these questions have been asked before.

In the dialer, click on Command I for Phone Info. It will be listed under Software. That's how it is with the Sprint version, the GSM one might be slightly different.

When you update your firmware, you sync first to back everything up. Then you run the firmware and sync again. This will automatically reinstall anything that may get lost when running the update.

Thanks for the quick reply -- It says I have firmware 0.104. So, where do I go to update it?

So does anyone know if I have the current firmware?

i dont believe there are any newer Cingular firmware versions but you could always use the unbranded 1.23 firmware which will remove all the cingular customizations and re-enable DUN. it also fixes the memory problem that has been discussed here (i got 4 MB of RAM back). Here is the link to find it...

I believe it will VOID Cingular's waranies make sure you know before you update to 1.23

I appreciated the response, but I will not update to a non-cingular firmware. I do not have the technical ability to re-setup all the cingular settings, etc. Plus, XBM warranties with cingular are pretty good. I would not want to void my warranty.

I went to 1.23 and all my settings were still intact. Although I did have backupman running before I did my flash, then I restored my settings from the backup I had and it runs fine. I did not have to reset my Cingular settings.
